"Scott came by and inspected my roof and refused to give me a quote, because I do not need a new roof. Very refreshing since most roofers came by and pushed me into a new roof. While Clear view does not do repair I kind of wish they did. Because Scott was so honest about the work I needed I wanted to use them, but if I ever do need a new roof Clear view is my first call."

"I really appreciate JC and his crew! He was so easy to work with, got our roofing done in a day (a long day as he wanted to finish before the rain came), cleaned up everything and best of all our roof looks amazing! JC uses top quality CertainTeed products so I know it will outlast us. Also he had a crew that could repair our deck stairs. They did a sturdy job that will also last many years. If you are looking for an honest person to work with that is reasonably priced, will stand behind his jobs, and hires the best craftsmen, I highly recommend JC at A Roof Above."

"Bryan was excellent in explaining the process of our new roof installation. He also did a great job showing us the new roof products and explaining how the whole procedure would be done."

"Erie Homes was great. Ty and Chris shared the information about roofs in a clear and precise way. I love the high quality of the roofing materials and the standards they hold their workers to when placing the roof. Mike called me each step of the way, so I was prepared when the roofing supplies showed up. I even got calls after the beautiful roof was done. Amazing job!"

"I needed a repair done for a damaged roof, facia and under the eve due to squirrels moving in. I could not get anyone to commit let alone call me back. Jim from Allbuilt homes contacted me, made an appt to visit the house and offers to take on the repair along with the roof work. Not only was it done above and beyond, he noticed a couple other things that he repaired that we would have maeve seen. The repair on the roof was over 30ft high on a sloped hill. His team were on time, quick and even managed to color match the wood trim and under eve damage. This is our spring and summer home and it is refreshing knowing that there is finally a contractor who keeps his word and goes above and beyond when talking care of the customer. We will use Jim from Allbuilt for anything we need for our home and that of the families. Thanks you Jim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT WORK!"

"Tim is way more than a top notch roofer. He’s a top notch person. He genuinely cares about getting the job done right and providing maximum value for his customers. He’s honest, he’s true to his word and he has excellent communication skills. My roof had a number of unique needs that he addressed, particularly involving improper ventilation. There were also a couple areas which were not keeping water out properly. He fixed them all beautifully on his first attempt! And believe me…he had to really think and innovate to get my very unusual house to vent properly. His pricing is extremely fair. I felt like he took incredibly good care of us. There are way too many morons in the home contractor/repair space these days! Tim brings to the table a rare combination of integrity and a healthy bank of knowledge and skills. And he’s got an instantly likable personality! If you’re in need of a great roofer, do yourself a favor and don’t risk getting into a regrettable situation…call Tim."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

During the framing process, builders connect the roof to the walls with materials, including metal connectors, plywood panels, and wood blocks. These roof-to-wall connections are important and provide weatherproofing, noise and temperature insulation, protection against pests, and home integrity. The type of connector and method used will vary, depending on your home’s construction and needs, and each has pros and cons in terms of cost, noise insulation, longevity, and reliability. Talk with your home or roofing contractor about the best connectors for your roof and walls, and what they recommend for your home.

Yes, in many cases, homeowners insurance does cover roof damage caused by snow. For instance, if your roof collapses during a snowstorm or an ice dam results in a ceiling leak, your policy should cover repair costs. However, for a claim to be approved, the roof must have been well-maintained and in good condition before the snow-related damage occurred. The payout, whether full or partial, can also vary depending on the age of your roof and its overall condition prior to the snowfall. It is always best to review your specific homeowners insurance policy to understand the details of your coverage and any potential exclusions.

No, you can’t use your home’s square footage. You have to calculate your roof’s square footage, and then you may have to convert your square footage measurement to correspond with how the roofing material is measured. For instance, some roofing is sold in “squares,” which equals the total square footage of the roof divided by 100. Shingles are sold in bundles that may not correspond to the number of squares you need. Metal roofing is sold as sheets, so determine the amount of square feet each panel will cover and then divide the total square footage by the coverage area.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

Chimney crowns are located above the final brick layer at the top of a chimney. It’s important to get regular chimney maintenance and inspection, because it is near impossible to spot chimney crown damage without getting on your roof.
