I'm a hands on builder, I do the majority of the work myself or with the help of my brother on larger jobs. We have both been in the business for over forty years. For the jobs I do not do I have quality sub contractors that I have worked with and know their work. Most of my customers get their own financing and give monthly draws as the work progreses.

Our steel fabrication plant holds most of the common energy and U.L. certifications sought after by home builders. Today, Kodiak Steel Homes® offers a wide range of products and services. With a full line of pre-engineered all-steel homes, innovative red iron framing, and a complete catalog of designs, Kodiak has much to offer both contractors and weekend do-it-yourselfers. Kodiak Steel Homes® has built a name on providing the steel framing kits, and helping connect customers with local contractors and working with local contractors in order to save the home builder money. Kodiak Steel Homes® is building their reputation one satisfied customer at a time.

"Do not buy a Kodiak home. My floor plan was wrong. They didn't send me my insulation and have been trying to get a refund for 2 years. They also charged me 15% more after the plans went to manufacturing. This has been a nightmare to say it mildly. There are other steel frame home companies out there."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Yes, many kinds of building permits exist for various projects in and outside your home. Each city sets the permit categories, but they typically cover new construction, alterations, and demolition. For example, you will need a different permit to finish a basement than you would tear down the patio.

On average, exterior brick siding costs around $18,000 for a 2,500 square foot home. Whereas vinyl costs around $11,000 and engineered wood costs around $4,000 for the same size home. You also need to account for the cost to paint the material afterward.

Building permits serve a few purposes, the most important of which is to keep you and the people around you safe by ensuring your contractor does work safely and to code. Permits also help your municipality tax your property appropriately, as taxes are based on land improvements and the upgrades you make to your home. Finally, permits ensure your project won’t have a negative impact on the environment or your neighbors.

It is a good idea to check in with your local city and state regulations before committing to building a shipping container home no matter where you live. This concept is pretty new across the country, and many places won’t let you build one.

The International Code Council (ICC) offers guidelines for home builders on the safe use of ISO intermodal shipping containers repurposed as building components, which can be helpful to review when planning or designing a shipping container home.

While many different factors determine whether a house is classified as a villa, many villas are detached homes with a European design influence, often with an emphasis on luxury and comfort. Modern villas often feature outdoor spaces such as terraces, gardens, or patios.
