"The technician was prompt, took apart the fireplace, cleaned and put it back together. She made sure everything was laid out on a towel, so nothing was dirtied. She reviewed how to use the unit and was very helpful. All done in a reasonable amount of time."
"We have Frontpoint at two houses. We had been looking for ways to cut our monthly expenses (Frontpoint is approx. $100 per month total), so I called them to find out what I could do. They informed me that I was under contract for another year, and that I cannot get out of the contract without an early termination fee that is equal to the cost of the service. I'm a little disappointed, because the upfront cost of the system was very expensive ($1,000+) for each house, so it seems odd that I would get sucked into this contract. Nevertheless, I forgot that I signed up for this with them. My calendar is marked for the day that my service ends, and I will be switching to a company that charges about half of what they do. They have OK customer service and are very responsive, but the wireless system had some issues with reception in my house due to a fireplace, and then they didn't want to work with me to get that resolved. They're OK, but I can't really recommend them."

"I don't know what's up with this Rick guy and his company, but the "experience" I didn't have with them makes me seriously wonder who all those people are that gave him such a favorable rating for his roofing services. I called DeNeve on May 17th in hopes of getting them to give me an estimate on the repair/sealing of the flashing around my chimney-turned-linen-closet (the drywall in the closet was taking on moisture and developing a spot of mold. I decided to have the cause of the problem fixed before repairing the resulting damage). Whoever it was on the phone told me they'd be over that afternoon if they got time or definitely Monday around noon. "Great!" I said, "I can work with that." Well, he didn't show that day or Monday, according to my 26 year old son, who set aside his entire day to wait on these people. I didn't hear from them on Tuesday, so called again on Wednesday May 22nd. Same guy answered the phone and upon hearing that no one showed up, told me he'd look into it and get right back to me. He called back 5 minutes later to say that he himself would be at the house around 2 pm on Friday. Now again according to my son; the guy showed up on time and was mistakenly shown a very minor situation with my freestanding fireplace flue. I'd already explained to DeNeve both times on the phone, however, that the problem was with a brick chimney that had become a linen closet. So, if the man was confused about what he was to look at, he shouldn't have been. My son says the man was on the roof and gone without another word within 10 minutes. I have yet to hear anything from DeNeve. I don't know what DeNeve's problem is/was, but I'm seriously thinking all those glowing roofing reviews are plants. I gave DeNeve a fair chance to provide a service and they screwed it up. No way will I be calling them again. I got the same behavior from EJS Roofing. But they're about to get their own separate review.
ADDENDUM
Well, on June 3 or 4, Rick returned again. I had called another company and was expecting them that Monday or Tuesday, but it was DeNeve I discovered working on my roof at the appointed time.
I say "discovered" because there was no announcement upon his arrival. Just somebody walking on my roof. It was Rick and he was sealing exposed meshing around the chimney in question. He explained they'd been very busy the past week and apologized for not showing up as scheduled - the patch job is free.
"OK, cool", I thought. And as I pulled away for work before he was quite packed up, I asked him for a statement of what he'd done. "Sure!" he said, again apologizing for the inconvenience.
Upon my return home, I found in my post box, a barely legible invoice stating "seal chimney where webbing is thin" It's undated; so that hasn't helped me remember if it was Monday or Tuesday. And I certainly won't be able to use it as a very convincing record that anything was actually done.
So, I was wishy-washy on the phone, eh? (Says Rick in his Jun 2 response to my original review). Perhaps (objectively; I doubt it). But that still doesn't explain the contractor's behavior.
I can't testify to the quality of the free patching because it's going to take a more persistent spate of water on the roof to say whether or not the patching worked. So far - even with these past few relatively heavy rains - all is well.
So, now, Rick did, indeed, call me a couple of times after this, asking me to adjust my original Angie's review, and I promised I would - which I am. And I'm sorry, Rick. You seem to be a nice enough guy and all, and you did me a small favor... It's just that the professionalism and follow-through delivered is still a bit wanting."

For many people, the primary disadvantage of a gas fireplace insert is that it doesn’t look or smell like a classic wood-burning fire. Additionally, the labor costs of installing a gas insert are higher than some other types of fireplace inserts, including electric and pellet inserts. There are also limitations on where you can install ventless gas fireplaces because they’re banned in certain places (including California).
Well-seasoned hardwoods like oak, maple, hickory, and ash are the cleanest woods to burn in a fireplace. When properly dried, these woods have low moisture content, allowing them to burn hotter and produce less smoke, which minimizes creosote buildup. Ensure the wood is seasoned for at least six months for optimal burning.
There are several maintenance tips you should take to ensure your pellet stove's safety and proper maintenance. You should vacuum the ash pan every week to prevent overflowing and clean the stove and surrounding vents every three to four months. It’s also important to get a professional inspection every year and install a carbon monoxide detector close to your stove. Be sure to dispose of hot ashes in a closed metal container; store it outside, away from the house. Only use the pellets recommended by your stove's manufacturer, and follow any cleaning and maintenance instructions.
How big a fire pit should be depends on how many people you want to get around it on a regular basis, and how big your space is. The average fire pit size is between 36 and 44 inches. However, if you regularly host big gatherings and have the appropriate outdoor space, you can go as big as 72 inches.
Not all gas fireplaces need a chimney. If you install a ventless gas fireplace, it will release low levels of combustion byproducts back into your living space (instead of pushing them outside through a chimney or vent). Ventless fireplaces burn fuel efficiently, so the emissions are minimal—but they could bother people with allergies or respiratory issues.
