"For the second time in a few days Silver Axe once again proved to be the best!! A freak tree fall damaged some other under story foliage in the process. Your crew once more came for a preliminary look, got me a good quote, came back as promised [twice!!] until the trees were removed, the area picked up, and everything was gone through the grinder. Capable, courteous, committed employees ensured that the job was done to my satisfaction. Looking forward to next time!!"

"The free estimate from Northside Tree Pros was quick and straightforward, and I never felt pressured to add services I didn’t need. The crew was fast, professional, and had the job done with my yard cleaned up in no time. I work in arboriculture and green space management, so I’m pretty particular about tree work, and because of that, there wasn’t another company I even considered for my own yard. Highly recommend, and thanks to the whole team!"

"Jaime Alvarez and his crew at Silver Axe Tree Services did an excellent job of tree removal of several large trees. Jaime is a certified tree arborist, walked our property with my husband, and gave recommendations as to tree removal or not. The Silver Axe crew also ground stumps and trimmed branches on our remaining trees. They were punctual, professional, and did a great job cleaning up. They removed several large trees close to our power line. I highly recommend them for tree services."

"Excellent work today. Very pleased with their service and their price. They cut down two 90 foot trees and did so very carefully so as not to damage a big cedar that was right in between. Excellent job. It was interesting to watch them all move so methodically. They know what they are doing! Cleaned up beautifully afterwards. Very patient with me as I asked them to trim some limbs off surrounding trees. Also trimmed some super tall bushes in my yard and some neighbors’ trees that were hanging over my property. Even went to a neighbor‘s home and did some work for them as well today - neighbor was also very pleased with their work and price. Pricing is extremely reasonable. Reliable and professional. Highly recommend this company."

"This company did an excellent job on a large project. I had about 10 trees removed and multiple trees trimmed. They were prompt, knowledgeable, professional and courteous and finished the job in 1 day. I had received a quote from another company and they said it would take 3 days and their bid was $3000 higher and wasn't as comprehensive as Southeast Tree proposal. I would recommend them highly to anyone considering tree work."

"I have to say, Greg & his team were phenomenal. They took out 40+ red tips for us (I think it ended up being 45) in ONE day. It was incredible. Great work, great team, and great price. I'd hands-down recommend using him. We'll definitely be using him again (we live in a wooded lot) and have already been recommending him & his team to our neighbors and friends.
Really, stop looking / price shopping here and call Greg / Little Bear Tree Service. His prices are great, he's extremely professional, and timely. We had that good of an experience with using him & his company.
(I should note - I realize this sounds like an overly glowing review. It's actually our real experience and we'd definitely hire them again. We've used other tree services in the past, and I was/still am just really impressed by Greg and his crew)
(Other side note - we did get them some cold waters/gatorades as it was a lot of work. They really appreciated it!! I'd suggest doing the same as it's hot out there! They did our work in late July!)

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Your neighbor is not in a good position to know if your trees are truly dead or pose any kind of danger. That’s why hiring an arborist or tree service expert can be such an important part of the process. If the trees are still alive and don’t pose any threat, you’re in the clear (but you may want to document and photograph everything in case events turn sour down the road).

But if a tree is visibly dead and near the property line, you should remove it to be safe. If a dead tree falls on a neighbor’s property, they may have grounds to sue for negligence. If any branches on trees have died, it’s a good idea to cut them back for similar reasons.

Although the terms tree trimming and tree pruning are used interchangeably, they are very different types of tree maintenance. Tree trimming involves enhancing the appearance of your tree by removing unruly branches, providing your tree with ample sunlight and nutrients and prevents unsightly overgrowth.

Tree pruning helps keep your trees disease-free. This process removes unhealthy growths, dead branches, and other unhealthy parts of the tree. It’s more common for deciduous and ornamental trees but not so common for evergreen trees. To determine which method you need, discuss it with a tree trimming specialist.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.

The ideal time to prune a tree depends on the type of tree. Typically, late winter or early spring is a good time to prune but isn't always the case for "towering trees." It's best to trim when trees are dormant and before blooms appear but can vary depending on the tree type. It's always best to research the type of tree or ask a professional tree trimmer to determine when is the perfect time to prune your tree.
