"Mr. Diego is a very courteous and highly skilled professional Locksmith. We walked through my home and he showed me two door levers that needed to be replaced and he diligently re-keyed a number of other locks and deadbolts throughout the house and added a lock to an existing door with out a locking handle. He was conscientious and adjusted the existing strike plates on the locks being re-keyed so that the doors shut properly and locked smoothly. He made a big improvement to our locks without having to replace them all. He completed the project smoothly and on-time. I would definitely recommend Diego @ Supreme Locksmith to friends & family. If going with Diego, you’re hiring an awesome Locksmith and gentleman that shows up to work with a smile on his face and one who truly enjoys his handicraft."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an excellent experience with Dream Team Home Services! I accidentally locked my keys in my car, and David came to the rescue. He arrived quickly, was very professional, and had my car unlocked in no time. He was friendly, explained what he was doing, and made the whole process stress-free. I really appreciate the fast and reliable service — I highly recommend Dream Team Home Services, and especially David, if you ever find yourself in the same situation!"

"The gentleman arrived perfectly on time. We had just purchased the house and there were eight locks to be replaced. Some of the door locks had to be worked on to get things fitted and working effectively. His work was very strong and rapid and the locks are working perfectly.
We would recommend this company and this gentleman.

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.

Using a combination of tools (often store-bought plumbing tools) and brute force, a burglar can easily snap the lock on a door. Snapping a lock aims to gain access to the cylinder inside, which holds the locking mechanism. Once the thief snaps the lock, they can pick the cylinder open and walk right in.

It is best to use a dry lubricant, such as a Teflon-based option, for door locks. Unlike popular oil-based lubricants, dry lubricants leave a non-stick, water-repellent coating that does not attract dust, dirt, and other debris. Using an oil-based lubricant can cause these particles to build up inside the lock, making it difficult to operate or even damaging the internal mechanism. You can find dry lubricants, some of which are made specifically for locks, at most hardware stores.

The benefit of deadbolt locks is that they're much harder to force open than simple locks with pin tumbler mechanisms, so they may offer added security. This feature is why many locksmiths recommend deadbolts for home security. For many households, this added protection and peace of mind is well worth the cost of installing a deadbolt.

Rekeying is typically cheaper than replacing locks. Professional rekeying costs between $40 and $160, sometimes with an additional fee of $15 to $40 per lock. A locksmith's hourly rate averages around $75. If you do it yourself, a rekeying kit can cost as little as $10. In contrast, replacing a lock costs between $130 and $500, with an average of around $315, depending on the hardware and lock type. Rekeying is a simpler process that changes the key for your existing lock without replacing the hardware. It is a good option if you have a quality lock that works well, you've recently moved, you've lost a key, or you need a quick security upgrade. The best choice depends on the condition of your current locks.
