Since 1900, we have been the locksmith & security company of choice for the metropolitan Atlanta area. We are a residential, commercial & industrial provider of locksmith services including locks, door hardware, access control, cctv, safes & vaults. We also offer sales, service and installation of all major brands of commercial, residential and industrial locks and door hardware. Chances are if it is related to the door in any way, shape or form we can furnish it, service it or install it.

I went out to front yard in my pajamas to put recycle bine for pick up before 8:00 AM . The glass/ screen front door locked leaving me outside with no way to get in. I called Angie's list Phyllis Weaver was my customer service person. I had no way to pay because my purse and was inside and my car was locked. Phyllis got a rare exception from the supervisor that I could get a locksmith through Angie's list before paying for membership. Phyllis called a couple of the top rated vendors and found one that could come. When I called Downs Lock said that I would have to have proof of residency, something with my name and address. I explained that I was locked out of the house and the car and couldn't access any proof. A neighbor was standing me and vouched for who I was. That was not enough. They had a policy of not going getting a house unlocked without proof of ownership. It was frustrating. Finally I went through my recycle bin out front and found one piece of paper which identified me with name and address. It was a renewal form for Allure Magazine. I honestly don't know what else I could have done if that one piece of paper wasn't in the bin.
Once the locksmith came everything went very smoothly that is why I gave a high score for the service. As soon as I got to my debit card in my purse I called Angie's list and paid for a membership.
The customer service that Angie's list provided was outstanding.
"We invested several hours in researching the proper replacement hardware for the home and provided a detailed written estimate at no cost to the client. We presented the client with what we felt was a fair, non-negotiable, price for turnkey services. Unfortunately, we were not the lowest price in comparison to the other service providers. In regards to declining additional work, the client asked us to provide and install one line item from the quote, at the price of the material only. We felt that it would be best, from a service stand point, to have the provider who was awarded the initial project to perform the entire scope instead of having multiple vendors performing similar work, which could potentially confuse any warranty related issues should they arise in the future. We value each client and every opportunity available to us, and although we want to close every sale we quote, we are not always the least expensive option. The technician called before he left his previous job to let me know he was on the way and give approximate time.
The technician was extremely courteous. i explained that I had 11 locks but that there were two different keys for these and I was not certain which ones were different. He worked through each room and confirmed that I would need two different keys. He made the keys and tested each one. The locks are old and a little bit touchy so he showed me how to lock and unlock to avoid issues.
This was a great experience and I highly recommend Downs Safe and Lock
