"Mr. LaRue Martin of Martin and Son Contracting is the person I will call for any home needs in the future. I highly recommend this gentleman. He was professional, prompt, and pleasant. He communicated with me via text, email, and phone and sent a quote in a timely manner. He had me send photos of the existing fixture and the new one, so that he would know in advance what to expect from the project. I appreciated that. When I have work done in my home, I like to watch it in progress. I asked to watch while he worked, and he encouraged me to do so. The work is impeccable. I can comfortably say that I trust this man with my home repairs and installation. Highly, highly recommend."

"I ordered a garage door opener from Amazon and hired Drew from Start to Finish Home Improvements, Inc. to install it. He gave me detailed info about his skills, work he has done, and a reasonable quote! Even though Amazon sent me a faulty garage door opener, Drew went far and beyond to stay and install a second garage door opener that I purchased from Home Depot so that me and my family would feel safe with a garage door that works! We will definitely call on Drew to do more small jobs and I recommend that you give him a try because he's true to his word!...Start to Finish Home Improvements, Inc.!!!...Thanks for staying and not leaving us without being able to open and close our garage door."

"I cannot recommend Thikka LLC and Ameer enough! He recently installed my fence and did an absolutely outstanding job. From start to finish, he was professional, hardworking, and detail-oriented. The fence looks fantastic, and it’s clear he takes great pride in his work. If you’re looking for someone reliable and committed to making sure you’re happy with the final result, Ameer at Thikka LLC is the one to call. I could not be happier with my fence—it’s exactly what I wanted, and then some!"

"Quality work , but pretty pricey. They charged me $411 to install an over the range microwave. I provided all the materials. They charged $40 to "haul away construction debris" they threw away the box. $11 credit card processing fee. $348 for labor, it took a little over an hour. I wish they had been more upfront with the cost since they charge a $78 appointment charge that is refunded if you agree to the job."

"Mr. Moore came to my home very timely as promised. He repaired the back door knob lock at the frame so it would stay lock when locked. He replaced a new door knob to my den door. I had the new door knob . I asked more questions about carpentry work to repair a broken drawer to a chest of doors I had for years. He gave me an honest answer to replace the old chest of drawers with a new one. I believe the cost of repair would not be worth the sentimental value. He said it would be costly to repair the roof of my outdoor shed because of the way it was built. I believed him and decided to keep doing what I have done about the roof of the shed. Patch my way. It's working well enough right now."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Smoke detectors come in two different options: hardwired or battery-operated. While hardwired units are attached directly to the home’s electrical system, a battery-operated smoke detector only needs a simple battery for operation and can be placed virtually anywhere in your home. Some homeowners may mistakenly think their battery-operated units are hardwired in because all their units are interconnected, but many battery-operated units can operate within a smoke alarm network in your home.

Yes, spider webs are flammable, taking them from minor household nuisance to something more dangerous. Silk boasts no built-in resistance to fire, though it takes an abundance of spider webs to actually catch fire and spread. A cobweb here and there poses no major fire safety risk, so it’s not a cause for concern.

Electrical fires are unique from other fire types because they have the potential to deliver electric shocks in addition to being on fire. Avoid serious injury from possible electrical emergency situations by avoiding the use of water, foam-based fire extinguishers, wet-chemical fire extinguishers,  flour, or baking powder to put out an electrical fire.

If a light switch is off, it’s very unlikely to cause a fire. For a fire to start, the switch has to be on, activating an electrical current, and the wiring must be faulty. However, the malfunctioning light switch could cause an intermittent current to move across the electrical wire. This issue could become a fire hazard with another device connected to the wire. You should replace the bad light switch as soon as you notice it or call an electrician.

Having a pellet stove can indeed raise your insurance rates since they're a relatively common cause of fires in the home. However, rate increases vary by insurance provider so you should reach out to yours to determine exactly how much your rates might increase with a new pellet stove install.
