"Mr. LaRue Martin of Martin and Son Contracting is the person I will call for any home needs in the future. I highly recommend this gentleman. He was professional, prompt, and pleasant. He communicated with me via text, email, and phone and sent a quote in a timely manner. He had me send photos of the existing fixture and the new one, so that he would know in advance what to expect from the project. I appreciated that. When I have work done in my home, I like to watch it in progress. I asked to watch while he worked, and he encouraged me to do so. The work is impeccable. I can comfortably say that I trust this man with my home repairs and installation. Highly, highly recommend."

"I ordered a garage door opener from Amazon and hired Drew from Start to Finish Home Improvements, Inc. to install it. He gave me detailed info about his skills, work he has done, and a reasonable quote! Even though Amazon sent me a faulty garage door opener, Drew went far and beyond to stay and install a second garage door opener that I purchased from Home Depot so that me and my family would feel safe with a garage door that works! We will definitely call on Drew to do more small jobs and I recommend that you give him a try because he's true to his word!...Start to Finish Home Improvements, Inc.!!!...Thanks for staying and not leaving us without being able to open and close our garage door."

"I cannot recommend Thikka LLC and Ameer enough! He recently installed my fence and did an absolutely outstanding job. From start to finish, he was professional, hardworking, and detail-oriented. The fence looks fantastic, and it’s clear he takes great pride in his work. If you’re looking for someone reliable and committed to making sure you’re happy with the final result, Ameer at Thikka LLC is the one to call. I could not be happier with my fence—it’s exactly what I wanted, and then some!"

"Mr. Moore came to my home very timely as promised. He repaired the back door knob lock at the frame so it would stay lock when locked. He replaced a new door knob to my den door. I had the new door knob . I asked more questions about carpentry work to repair a broken drawer to a chest of doors I had for years. He gave me an honest answer to replace the old chest of drawers with a new one. I believe the cost of repair would not be worth the sentimental value. He said it would be costly to repair the roof of my outdoor shed because of the way it was built. I believed him and decided to keep doing what I have done about the roof of the shed. Patch my way. It's working well enough right now."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Depending on who’s doing the estimating, about 22,000 to 25,000 chimney fires happen each year in the United States. Given the fact that millions of Americans have fireplaces (and chimneys), that means chimney fires aren’t exactly common—but they’re not rare, either. Since they’re so dangerous, it’s important to take precautions to prevent them.

No, you can’t completely fireproof a house. There is always a chance that a fire can break out inside or outside your home. Even if most of the home is built with fireproof materials, a long-burning fire can still cause damage. Still, fireproofing efforts can buy you additional time to evacuate and give you a better chance of salvaging your home after a fire rather than needing to rebuild entirely.

Pellet stoves are safer than wood stoves in many ways. They don’t produce as many creosote deposits as wood stoves do, they create less smoke, and the flames are contained, decreasing the risk of any sparks or embers creating a house fire. Pellet stoves also burn more cleanly and efficiently than wood stoves do.

You can fireproof an existing door to some extent, but it's better to remove the old door and replace it with a fire-rated model. Anything dealing with extreme heat needs rigorous testing and a door you DIY fireproof will not undergo the same safety measures as a premade one. Consider a door with a rating of at least 30 minutes or more in residential areas.

While adding fire sprinklers to your home, you may want to consider other fire prevention and protective measures. Get your smoke alarms and CO alarms inspected and replaced, if needed. Add fire doors to vulnerable areas of your home. Inspect or purchase fire extinguishers. For exterior protection, consider fire-smart landscaping practices .
