"Nelson Aluminium Products first came out to measure my windows for screen replacement. They came out just a few days later with perfectly measured screens. For the living room, we opted for the BetterVue screens, and they are worth the additional cost. Can't even tell there are screens in the window, except if you are right next to the windows. Highly recommended."

Customers say: Quick response

"He said he would be here and he came. Josh told me the exact day my replacement glass would be here and he delivered on time! It made me very happy. Since my double pane window was broken out completely. Josh was informative about the glass & its installation. I will recommend this company to others."

"Team from Power completed the work on time and cleaned up well after work was completed. Windows were measured correctly so replacement windows fit perfectly and were quality Pella windows versus no-name windows offered by other vendors."

"We made the right choice with "Make A Choice Home Exteriors". We have a 1940s Craftsman Bungalow that needed extensive exterior renovations with the siding, windows, doors, and several other repairs completed. After going through several contractors we decided there was one more to check out with 5 stars and great reviews called Make A Choice Home Exteriors and then we'll choose, so my husband said call them to request for a estimate. Assistant Project Manager Manuel came out to perform the estimate whom was very professional, friendly and attentive to what was important to us in completing this project. I called my husband and told him about the experience with Manuel, so we decided to choose Make A Choice as our contractor. As the project moved forward the team (Manuel, Fabian, Ivan, Domingo "Sunday", ALL the contractors as well as the Owners ) didn't disappoint and showed us it was about our vision what we wanted and needed; they worked diligently, passionately and went above and beyond to ensure we were completely satisfied with every detail. Pictures prove that "Make A Choice Home Exteriors" was the right choice. Thank you for your services!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Impact windows are absolutely worth the money if you live in an area prone to hurricanes. Though expensive, impact windows are built to withstand hurricane winds up to 200 mph and theoretically won’t break even if flying debris, such as mailboxes and lawn chairs, is smacked against the glass. A single broken window during a hurricane can destabilize the pressure inside your home, which can cause walls and the roof to collapse.

During hurricanes or other major storms, high winds can cause objects and debris to fly through the air, which can break your windows. Depending on how strong the storm is, the winds themselves may be strong enough to break your windows, too. Investing in storm windows or hurricane shutters can help protect you against potential window breakage.

Yes, home appraisers look at your windows when appraising your property to determine the market value of your home. They’ll factor in the type of windows, quality, condition, whether or not there are screens covering the windows, frame materials, size, insulation, and more to come up with an unbiased property assessment.

Garden windows last about 15 to 30 years, depending on the materials, ongoing maintenance, and local climate. Fiberglass and wood windows tend to have the longest life spans as long as you keep up with cleaning, lubricating, and refinishing them. Make sure to inspect your windows about once a year for signs of trouble, like worn-out seals, frame damage, or cracks in the panes.
