They also painted an adjoining bedroom and closet and replaced the flooring in both spaces. Simon, who handled all of the bathroom renovation except for the flooring, painting and installing the glass for the shower, Eric who installed all of the flooring and Manny who did all of the painting were all a pleasure to work with. "So far it?s so good. They?re very responsive to my questions and the person who is managing the project is very easy to get a hold of. If I have a concern, they address it. There are still a couple outstanding issues we?re still addressing and the job is not finished yet. I will say that the added benefit of someone managing it for me, because I was screening all different types of individual contractors, it?s worth it. On all the components of the jobs themselves, they are actually coming in lower. To replace my counter top, their bid was lower than the counter top guy but when you go in and add the overhead profit piece, it comes in, on average, a little higher but it?s worth it. It?s worth it to have that person making sure all the parts and pieces are fitting well together. And you don?t have the conflict you would have because they?re all doing it together. I don?t have to worry about it and I don?t have to be there to let people in, they?re doing that for me. For me, that is a big, big deal; so if it costs me on a $14,000 project to have $2,000 of that be overhead profit, it?s worth it. I?m a single, working mother so I?m not there all the time and to have someone I?m comfortable with, because I?m kind of funny about that and my tolerance for creepiness is pretty low. So to have somebody I?m comfortable with in my house while I?m not there is very, very important to me. Everything has happened pretty much when they said it would. Being around contractors before and knowing that they always give you an estimate that is ideal and typically don?t meet that by a long shot, they?ve been pretty close. I have been without my kitchen for a little longer than I had anticipated, but I think that was a misunderstanding. The project management has been really good and the ability to get in touch in my project manager even thought he actually does work on some jobs himself. The level of detail and the quote they gave me are important information and I need to have information to make decisions and make sure I?m doing things in the right order as well. The project manager has made things easy and he?s super responsive. I talk to him usually once a day, if not twice. For a busy person who wants to understand what?s going on and make sure things get done in the right order and get done well, it?s been huge. I know people who have had nightmares before with contractors and I haven?t had any of that. I can tell that the concern for the final outcome is very genuine. He doesn?t force me to go through their suppliers. It's been a good experience."
