"Andrew was a professional. His communication was good and he was fairly priced. Only glitch was not knowing stuff wouldn't be hauled away until next day, but in the end that did not pose an issue to the building of the new ramp. I would hire Andrew again."

"Daryl has been incredible to work with EVERY TIME! Daryl has completed many home projects with us. From building out a door frame, ordering and installing a custom door, installing a new front door, replacing plumbing fixtures as well as securing the plumbing structurally, painting, drywall repair,⠦⠦ he can get the job done. He is willing to take the extra steps (even after the job is completed) for a more personalized experience. We trust him explicitly! He even has a key to our place, just in case! Oh, his price is not only competitive but affordable! The trust factor means everything. Thanks, Daryl!!!"

"The owner is a man of his word We installed 17 kitchen sliding shelves. He said the quality of the materials would be excellent and it is. We've now asked him to look at installing ship lap siding in our kitchen. It's hard to find a artisan who delivers on his promise of quality and in a timely manner but he does. Plus he is a geniunely nice man"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

By careful planning and reinforcement to maintain structural integrity.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Not all porch columns are load-bearing, though they can be. Some porch columns are simply decorative. There are ways to identify a load-bearing column, like looking for visible seams and a foundation. Also, check to see if the column directly enters the ground. In some porch installations, a contractor will excavate a hole to install a column into the earth along with a buried cement base for stability.
