"Dustin and his son and associate were top notch! They took out the carpet in our Master and replaced with engineered hardwood. Dustin went above and beyond to make the transitions from other flooring in our home seamless. They were prompt, friendly, knowledgeable & left everything spotless. We are thrilled with the result."

"Outstanding workmanship and customer service. Taylor was very responsive and extremely helpful from start to finish. Helped us decide on the perfect product (when there's so many options out there!) for our design and family needs, and color matching the wood from our stairs to match the new install. We removed old carpet to replace with engineered hardwood, and Taylor was able to tighten the nails under the floor to help alleviate some of the "creaky" sounds that were previously driving us nuts before laying the new floors. He was efficient, always on time, and very accommodating when trying to schedule. Always over and above, and the end result was just stunning. Extremely pleased. Highly recommend Bold City Flooring."

"They did an excellent job. The technician was a real craftsman. The re-wiring, installing a pocket door, and tile work were all very well done. This is the second time I have used them (last time was several years ago to install a wood floor), and it was an excellent job. I would highly recommend them."

"Very professional. I highly recommend MN flooring. The floor looks AMAZING and so beautiful. The attention to detail is on point on every aspect. They are very meticulous clean, always left the area also very clean for the next day. They had done demo and prep the area for the installation of LVT. The prep was perfectly done so there is no ramps, gaps or transitions. I love my floor!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

You might be wondering, “Is laminate flooring toxic?” The product does contain formaldehyde, which is found in the resins used to bind the wood fibers together. But the chance of overexposure and adverse reactions, such as allergy- or asthma-like symptoms, is low unless you are exposed to formaldehyde in other places, i.e., if you work with formaldehyde regularly outside the home. Keep in mind, too, that many household products have the potential to pose a health hazard, such as cleaning products.

The average cost to install an epoxy garage floor is $2,514, with typical projects ranging from $750 to over $5,716. On a per-square-foot basis, you can expect to pay between $3 and $12. Several factors influence the total cost, including the total square footage, required surface preparations, the type and thickness of the epoxy, design complexity, decorative options, and labor costs. For example, an epoxy floor for a one-car garage may cost between $720 and $2,900, while a two-car garage can range from $1,100 to $4,300. Adding decorative elements like flakes can cost about $10 per 250-pound bag, and choosing a metallic epoxy can increase the price to between $5 and $12 per square foot. With proper care and maintenance, a well-installed epoxy floor can last for 10 to 20 years.

Carpeting with a low pile is both slip-resistant and soft, making it one of the safest types of flooring in the case of slips and falls. In order to be fully ADA-compliant, carpet shouldn’t exceed the thickness of half an inch, and you should secure the edges to the floor to prevent trip hazards.

Other ADA-compliant flooring options include hardwood, laminate, or ceramic tile with a gritty, anti-slip surface. Ceramic or porcelain tile are actually some of the best types of flooring for wheelchair users.

Not every type of flooring is well suited to a wood stove. However, ceramic or stone tiles are good choices since they are durable, heat-resistant, and easy to clean. Softer flooring options, like carpet, could be damaged by the heat produced by a wood stove—or even create a fire hazard.

Berber is the most expensive type of carpet, followed by textured carpet. Berber costs $3 to $20 per square foot, and textured carpet ranges from $1 to $12 per square foot. Berber features fibers arranged in short, thick loops, making it extraordinarily durable. The most expensive carpet material is wool, followed by acrylic, Triexta, and cotton. Wool costs $4 to $20 per square foot and is a beautiful, luxurious, and durable material. Acrylic, Triexta, and cotton range from $2 to $8 per square foot.
