"Called on Friday and they came out an gave estimate same day. Called them Monday morning and scheduled install on Wednesday. They were here Wednesday morning as planned and installed A/C. The two guys that came were very professional and did a great job. Once A/C was in they cleaned everything up. Would highly recommend them to friends."

"Technician Mike arrived on time (1:00pm), diagnosed the problem and gave several options to remedy. Given the age of the my system (13 yrs) I opted to replace the entire unit. Mike coordinated with his installation team (Matt and Billy) who arrived by 3:00pm and had the new system installed before 6:00pm the same day. All members of the Service Star team were courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional."

"Walter and Chris were here today to do the install. They arrived on time, did a very clean install with everything nicely lined up and tightly tied down and left four hours later leaving a very satisfied customer. No drama. Just a solid professional performance. So glad I found Prestige! Oh and BTW they were were the lowest cost bidder of the four companies I got estimates from."

"The project went extremely well and I am very satisfied! They arrived at a convenient time in the morning and finished faster than I expected the same day for such a big project. But ALL details were completed above and beyond simply installing the unit with top quality and professionalism provided by Ted, Mike and Anthony and left me very happy with the results! I would recommend their services to anyone looking for the 'best' service and quality in air conditioning and heat installation."

"They tried to keep my old PVC pipes installed. They installed the return upside down. They didn't wire correctly.

I was told by another company I was sold a unit full of features I didn't need."

"The technician was patient and knowledgeable. He explained every step so I understood what was involved. He worked with me on my requirement that the inside core be removed and thoroughly cleaned. This however was not part of the package and it necessitated another appointment to get it done for an additional cost of $450.00."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

An HVAC system typically lasts between 10 and 30 years, with an average lifespan of 15 to 25 years. The longevity of the system is influenced by factors such as the quality of the unit, usage frequency, local climate, and how well it is maintained. Regular maintenance, including cleaning, filter replacements, and professional inspections, can help maximize its lifespan. Different components within the system have varying life expectancies. For example:

  • Furnaces: 15 to 30 years

  • Boilers: 20 to 35 years

  • Air Conditioners (AC units): 12 to 20 years

  • Heat Pumps: 10 to 20 years

  • Ductless Mini-Splits: 10 to 30 years

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.

Yes, government incentives and programs are available to encourage energy-efficient upgrades in many regions. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, grants, and low-interest loans for homeowners who invest in energy-efficient improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, insulation, and efficient windows. The availability and specific details of these incentives can vary by location, so check with your local government or utility company to explore your options.

The best time of year to purchase or replace an HVAC system, including components like an air conditioner or furnace, is during the off-season—spring and fall. During these periods, HVAC professionals are less busy than in summer and winter, when extreme temperatures create urgent demand. Shopping during the off-season can lead to savings of 10% to 15% on an AC unit and allows you more time to find the best deal and other cost-saving incentives. Typically, air conditioning units go on sale in the fall after demand drops, while furnace prices tend to decrease in the spring.

The cost-efficiency of baseboard heaters depends on the type and how you use them. Generally, standard electric baseboard heaters can be expensive to run because they use electric resistance heating, which is less energy-efficient than systems like forced-air or heat pumps. However, hydronic and gas versions are typically much cheaper to operate. Hydronic models are more energy-efficient because they heat a liquid that retains warmth longer, preventing the thermostat from turning on and off as often. The overall running cost is also influenced by local electricity rates, your home's insulation, and your usage habits. To increase efficiency, you can use baseboard heaters for zoning, meaning you only heat the specific rooms you are using.
