"The job has not been completed yet, but I must say he is the best. Very nice person and understands the customer's needs. I am very excited to have him do the job in my home. I know it will be done the right way. The rate was also so, so awesome. Saved me a lot. I would recommend him for sure."

"These guys were great. They came out to give me an estimate and were very helpful with ideas on what needed done. I hired them to come out on a later date and they were punctual. The job was done correctly and they removed the old wiring and replaced it with the proper gauge wiring that met code. I had the home inspected later on and it passed with no concerns. I would hire them again."

"Brad came out promptly after I called. After looking at the panel he found that one of the breakers had been popped. He didn't even charge me for he call. It doesn't get any better than that. The trouble was that there was a piece of red tape over the breaker and I thought it was one that was not being used. when the panel was installed at the time we bought the house, the electrician taped over one of the breakers that was not working. He told me not to mess with it. unfortunately the tape had slipped down over the breaker that was tripped, hiding its status. on top of that it was mislabeled as bathroom instead of bedroom. Brad said that the panel was not installed properly 20 years ago. I wish I had known about Brad back then."

"Allstar Electric Co. was very friendly, courteous, and professional. They came out on time, as scheduled and performed the work in the amount of time for that type of project. And gave me a 3 yr. warranty... should anything go wrong again. And the charges were reasonable. I was well pleased and would hire them again. Unlike the tree service I hired back in 2017."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

Having a Level 2 charger can increase your home value, especially as electric vehicles become more popular. Homebuyers who have EVs or are interested in getting one will appreciate the convenience of a ready-to-use charging station. The added value can vary based on location and buyer preferences.

Hire an electrician the same way you would an employee. Ask questions and look for a good fit. Streamline the process by using these questions to ask an electrician. It's also common to ask for a quote in writing. Don’t forget to provide all the project details to ensure there are no surprises or opportunities for added fees.
