Customers say: Quality work

"Steve Rhone, plumber, and his assistant, Josh, were simply outstanding in every way. They arrived on time after calling in advance. Steve quickly assessed the plumbing and how to clear the clog, which I had so stupidly caused by dumping sour kraut down my disposal ... a no, no, trust me. The clog was at least 50 feet into the drainage system, so he use the mother of all rotor rooters and, wale-la, it worked! It was the best $165 I've ever spent. Obviously highly recommend SPR Plumbing!!! ...and thanks Home Advisor for putting me on to them!"

"We had an issue with a leaking toilet, called up, given a 2-hour time window same day in 2 hour at no extra charge. One problem led to another and they remained until the job was completed. Turned out to be an all day job. Ann, Gage and Ed were very knowledgeable, and professional. I would recommend them to anyone. Their work was exceptional and the final price was reasonable. I will not hesitate to call them again for any of the plumbing issues. Very, very, happy with them!"

"I asked Matt to replace from plumbing in a condo I am watching while the owner is away, in Waverly Place. Those condos are small and plumbing access is not easy. Matt was nice enough to tell me that some of my requests did not actually need replacing. That saved me a lot of money. Matt arrived on time and was very professional and neat. He is friendly enough but he gets straight to work so no time is wasted. I thought he was very reasonable and would hire him again without question. I have his number saved in my phone for future plumbing needs. Thanks Matt."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Melbourne's climate and geography create specific challenges for plumbing work. High humidity and salt air can accelerate pipe corrosion, so choosing corrosion-resistant materials is essential. The sandy soil and high water table may impact sewer line depth and require additional waterproofing. During hurricane season, the City of Melbourne Building Department recommends ensuring that all shutoff valves are accessible and that emergency procedures are in place for quick water supply isolation.

Helpful?

In Melbourne, homeowners may face unexpected expenses such as additional permit requirements from the City of Melbourne Building Department, mandatory code upgrades, or repairs to walls and floors after inspections. Unique local factors—like high water tables or sandy soil—can complicate plumbing permits and require specialized solutions. It's wise to review local plumbing codes and inspection timelines to anticipate potential project delays or extra work.

Helpful?

In Melbourne, most plumbing projects require permits issued by the City of Melbourne Building Department. This includes new plumbing installations, water heater replacements, sewer line work, and remodels involving plumbing changes. The Florida Building Code governs these requirements, and inspections—such as rough-in and final checks—are mandatory. Always consult the City of Melbourne Building Department for the correct permit forms and to confirm specific local plumbing codes before starting any work.

Helpful?

For plumbing projects in Melbourne, PEX piping is favored for its flexibility and durability in humid conditions, while CPVC is often used for hot water lines due to its heat resistance. PVC Schedule 40 is standard for drainage systems, and copper Type L is recommended for its corrosion resistance in coastal environments. Local plumbing codes discourage the use of galvanized steel and polybutylene due to the region's high humidity and salt air.

Helpful?

No, they are two different things. Some tanks have a pressure relief valve built in. The purpose of this valve is to prevent the rupturing of the water heater due to pressure generated during the heating process. An expansion tank redirects water from the heater tank to relieve pressure so while they have the same purpose—alleviating pressure—the expansion tank is the only item actually redirecting water.
