Small jobs welcome

"This was a simple, straight-forward repair to unclog our system. I called Mr. Auger after business hours on a Friday evening and did not expect to even hear from him until business hours on Monday. He called on Sunday evening and was able to set up a service call for Monday morning. The plumber who called on us was completely professional. He arrived exactly on time and went to work right away, resolving the problem in around an hour. At ever step he was cordial, friendly and polite and explained everything that needed to be done and the price was reasonable (and lower than I expected). I give Auger's Plumbing the highest recommendation."

Customers say: Quality work

"Steve Rhone, plumber, and his assistant, Josh, were simply outstanding in every way. They arrived on time after calling in advance. Steve quickly assessed the plumbing and how to clear the clog, which I had so stupidly caused by dumping sour kraut down my disposal ... a no, no, trust me. The clog was at least 50 feet into the drainage system, so he use the mother of all rotor rooters and, wale-la, it worked! It was the best $165 I've ever spent. Obviously highly recommend SPR Plumbing!!! ...and thanks Home Advisor for putting me on to them!"

"We had an issue with a leaking toilet, called up, given a 2-hour time window same day in 2 hour at no extra charge. One problem led to another and they remained until the job was completed. Turned out to be an all day job. Ann, Gage and Ed were very knowledgeable, and professional. I would recommend them to anyone. Their work was exceptional and the final price was reasonable. I will not hesitate to call them again for any of the plumbing issues. Very, very, happy with them!"

"The service was fast and courteous. The price for the work required was very reasonable and was done quickly. I tried calling a different plumber first (listed on my water heater) and they couldn't come out until the following week. And as it turns out, 5 minutes after I spoke to Treasure Coast Plumbing, my expansion tank sprang a leak. Treasure Coast replaced my main water shutoff (wasn't working) , my cold inlet side valve to the water heater, and installed a new expansion tank - all for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend Treasure Coast Plumbing."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Sewer ejector pumps need to be cleaned at least once a year by a professional. You shouldn’t attempt to clean it yourself because it can release sewer gasses that are toxic to humans and can be fatal. But to keep the system as clean as possible between professional inspection and cleaning services, be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid flushing items that can clog the system, like paper towels, grease, oil, or menstruation products.

Yes, you can technically use a utility knife or straight blade to cut through PEX pipe. However, this isn't an ideal method simply because you won't get the same clean cut that you'll get with a pipe cutter. A utility knife will likely create angles that weaken your push connections. If you use a utility knife, score the pipe with the knife along your marked line several times before making your final cut.

According to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), the distance between your trap and the vent should be no more than 6 feet. For your vent to work properly, it needs to feed into the drain line within 6 feet of trapways that connect to it. Using this formula, you should be able to determine whether you will need multiple vent lines.

Your pipes will not freeze just because you’ve turned your water heater off. Rather, pipes freeze when temperatures outside drop below freezing and the pipes are not properly insulated. In fact, leaving your faucets trickling with warm water (from the water heater) is one of the best ways to prevent your pipes from freezing in the winter.

Your water heater itself may have problems in the cold, so it’s important to winterize it each year. In addition, keep an eye on it throughout the year for problems and address any issues accordingly. For instance, here’s what to do if your water heater is leaking from the top.

You can use a water gauge to check that water pressure, which should be between 40 and 60 PSI. If you don’t have a water gauge, you can also time how long your showerhead takes to fill up a 1-liter container. If it takes longer than 6 seconds, you’re dealing with a case of low water pressure.
