"Technician Mike arrived on time (1:00pm), diagnosed the problem and gave several options to remedy. Given the age of the my system (13 yrs) I opted to replace the entire unit. Mike coordinated with his installation team (Matt and Billy) who arrived by 3:00pm and had the new system installed before 6:00pm the same day. All members of the Service Star team were courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional."

"The process was great from the get go. We had a few hiccups along the way but they were quick to resolve the issues. The installers were very polite and professional and clean as well. They did a most excellent job and I would recommend to anybody. They replaced the complete a/c furnace system as well as the ductwork."

"Tommy came out and did a full diagnostics check to make sure everything was working properly and explained what we needed to do if the problem happened again. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who was looking for a good HVAC company. They are the company we had install our A/C so there was no cost for the check."

"Service could not have been better. The Technician was clearly well trained and qualified. He quickly isolated the problem and repaired the system. The initial service request call was made at 8:05 Am and the technician was on-site by 10:30 AM. Price was very reasonable. IThey have a very good reputation locally...some think they charge a bit more than some of the other local contractors...but I feel like I clearly got my money's worth by using them. I will clearly use Kabran A/C for all my a/c and heating needs in the future.

"We called Honest based on the reviews on this site and they delivered. Our ancient AC unit had given up finally and Honest told us we could repair it for $2500 or replace it for $5000. From our initial call to installation, Honest had us inspected, financed and fixed in four days. They installed the new unit quickly and even fixed our outside spigot that had long ago been broken. It's the little things as well as the big things. The final tally was a little higher than expected, but considering the work they had to perform, I have no problem paying the extra. And, we have a quiet, energy efficient unit at last!"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Oil boilers provide reliable heating, efficiency, and long-term cost savings compared to electric options.

On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.

While you’ll pay more upfront for a brand-new HVAC unit, you can save money in the long run. Here’s how to save on your new HVAC system:

  • When purchasing a high-efficiency system, your energy bills will be lower in the future.

  • You may be eligible for special offers from your local energy company.

  • Depending on the system, you may be eligible for HVAC rebates and tax credits.

  • Choose to replace your air conditioning unit and furnace simultaneously to save on labor and installation costs.

Probably not. Moving a boiler to a new location is a very different prospect from replacing it in the same spot, and significantly more expensive. Plus, boilers are typically carefully positioned in proximity to pipes and radiators when installed. Homeowners may want to move boilers to free up space, prevent freezing problems that have happened in winter, or solve a noise issue—but it’s a much more costly proposition.
