"Very good in fact great. Called and they came next day. Very punctual. Pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend Derrick’s locksmith. Spoke to Gary and he sent his son. Price is very good. "Lenny Locksmith’s Customer Service Rep gave me information on estimates and what to expect. The job was handed over to an independent contractor who promptly contacted me. As an out of state landlord I gave the contractor the contact information of a friend in order to coordinate the service. The contractor made arrangements with the contact to meet at 9:00 the following morning. He was over an hour late, did not give an estimate and charged me three times more than I anticipated and tried to walk away with the replaced lock sets. When I called Lenny Locksmith to express my displeasure, they were as disappointed as I. They offered to refund half my money, which I agreed to, and a Priority Mail envelope arrived at my door within 3 days. I recommend Lenny Locksmith without reservation. He is a man of character who genuinely cares about his company and his customers."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Yes, locksmiths can design and install master key systems that grant different levels of access to various employees while maintaining overall security.

If your door handle turns without opening, the most likely culprit is a loose or stripped spindle. This part connects the handles to the latch mechanism, and when it’s not properly engaged, turning the handle does nothing. Other issues might include a broken latch, loose screws, or even something small blocking an inner mechanism. In any case, it’s usually a matter of tightening, adjusting, or replacing a worn-out part inside the handle assembly—or calling in a professional to do it for you.

Always consider security a top priority in your home. Perform a safety inspection of your home. Look for broken locks and rusty deadbolts, and take an inventory of who has access to your keys.

Consider the locks on your shed, safe, and other household items. Professional locksmiths can help you determine the best safety and security options for your home and feel at ease.

When a locksmith comes to your home, ensure your safety by having the locksmith show identification and provide an itemized invoice that you can reference later.

The good news is that, yes, you can change locks yourself. Many people find it’s an easy DIY project that requires few tools and not much expense (depending on which lock you’re installing). If you have trouble with any part of an installation, you can always call a locksmith to help finish installing them.

Expect to pay between $50 to $200 if you hire a locksmith to change your locks. That figure includes labor and the cost of basic hardware. The cost will naturally be higher if you plan to install more expensive locks, like smart locks, and if you need a lot of them.

Homeowners can save money by replacing locks themselves. A typical rekeying kit costs about $10 to $25. The only additional cost is purchasing new house keys, and those are no more than a few dollars per key. If you want to replace the locks on your own completely, the main cost is the price of the locks themselves. A standard knob-style lock starts around $25, while electronic locks and smart locks will run in the hundreds of dollars. The only additional tools you should need are a tape measure, screwdriver, and screws if they are not already provided.
