"Very good in fact great. Called and they came next day. Very punctual. Pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend Derrick’s locksmith. Spoke to Gary and he sent his son. Price is very good. They were the first one suggested from Angie’s List and called immediately. Didn’t have to go any further. Five ????? professional and price."

"Lenny Locksmith’s Customer Service Rep gave me information on estimates and what to expect. The job was handed over to an independent contractor who promptly contacted me. As an out of state landlord I gave the contractor the contact information of a friend in order to coordinate the service. The contractor made arrangements with the contact to meet at 9:00 the following morning. He was over an hour late, did not give an estimate and charged me three times more than I anticipated and tried to walk away with the replaced lock sets. When I called Lenny Locksmith to express my displeasure, they were as disappointed as I. They offered to refund half my money, which I agreed to, and a Priority Mail envelope arrived at my door within 3 days. I recommend Lenny Locksmith without reservation. He is a man of character who genuinely cares about his company and his customers."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Thieves can open almost anything with enough time and the right tools, but they also prefer easy targets that are unlikely to get them caught. Forcing open gates is loud and difficult, and to be able to open one electronically requires extensive knowledge of the system, which most thieves don't have. Electric and other security gates are great deterrents because the thief will move to an easier target. If the thief is determined to enter your property, they will most likely find a different entrance point.

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.

Always consider security a top priority in your home. Perform a safety inspection of your home. Look for broken locks and rusty deadbolts, and take an inventory of who has access to your keys.

Consider the locks on your shed, safe, and other household items. Professional locksmiths can help you determine the best safety and security options for your home and feel at ease.

When a locksmith comes to your home, ensure your safety by having the locksmith show identification and provide an itemized invoice that you can reference later.

Begin by checking the power source, typically a battery or wired connection. Ensure the battery is installed correctly, has sufficient charge, and isn't corroded. If it's a wired lock, examine the electrical connections to confirm they are secure and free from damage. Additionally, inspect the lock's programming or settings. Confirm that user codes or access credentials are programmed correctly and that any remote control devices are paired and functional.

Yes, you should always change your locks after buying a house. Do so as soon as possible after you move in. Otherwise, you won’t know who has working keys to the property, whether they’re spare keys or otherwise. If an intruder gains access to your house with a key, it may not be covered under your homeowners insurance.
