"Bart, sure knows AC! He was actually an old neighbor of mine and he installed all of the units in this neighborhood 20 some years ago. So, naturally, I went to him for help when I needed a new AC installed. This was a tricky install because the codes were different back then, with the lines being different sizes nowadays. He was able to give me the product I needed, properly installed and running smoothly! I would refer him to anyone who asked. He really knows his stuff!"

"Perfection. My AC began to die over Memorial Day weekend. The company was responsive even though they were slammed over the weekend. They helped me to choose the right AC for my house, with no attempt to upsell. Made several trips to replace refrigerant that was leaking to keep me going for the few days until they could install, and they only charged me for the refrigerant. They gave me a very good price on the unit. The installers were very professional, went above and beyond. Every person I dealt with was courteous and helpful. I love the unit, perfect size for my house."

"We obtained three different bids.  One was Aspen AC, which told us that we needed far more than we in fact needed, as far as modifications to existing pipes etc.  Their price, comparing apples to apples (even without the unnecessary modifications) was 25% higher than the other two bids.  It came down to two, both which were well rated with Angie's and which were priced about the same.  It was nearly a tossup, but we went with Sansone.  Lester, the salesman, explained what he thought we needed and why, and did not try to sell us more.  My only complaint with Lester is that he smelled like an ashtray and was a bit off-putting at times. Overlooking that, we  felt that he was honest in his presentation.  The techs were about 1/2 hour late, but not a big deal. They both behaved professionally,  completed the job, showed us what they did, and cleaned up afterward.
We are now enjoying the new AC, and it is heaven.  Our old AC was a cheap system at the time, and by now was leaking freon like a sieve, and we should have replaced it a couple of years ago. Our bills have been astronomical (I suspect that its efficiency had deteriorated to nil) and it was too small for our home. Now, I am hoping our bills will come down. We have it at a higher temp  than our old unit, by several degrees but it is more comfortable.
We are considering the maintenance plan.  I don't know how that will work out, but it may be worth it.  It is slightly higher than the second bid.
It is still early since we just go the unit installed yesterday.  However, ,we are very happy with Samson at this point.  I hope that continues.

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Yes. Boilers need water to run without overheating, also known as dry firing. If you run it without a sufficient volume of water, either because of a burst pipe or a leak, you run the risk of damaging your machine or jeopardizing the safety of your home as a whole. When in doubt, shut off your boiler and repair any plumbing issues before turning it back on. Alternatively, consider installing a low-water cutoff (LWCO) before any issues arise. This gadget will protect your boiler by monitoring water levels and automatically shutting it off if it gets too low.

The cost of heating oil fluctuates rapidly based on supply and demand, but the average price is between $4.00 and $4.50 per gallon, which means filling a standard 275-gallon tank would cost between $1,100 and $1,240. Much like automotive gasoline, the price of home heating oil changes constantly, so the only way to get an accurate and current price per gallon is to contact a heating oil delivery company. Some companies also offer contracts with a set price that should be an average cost over the contract term.

If you go to turn it counterclockwise and it won’t turn anymore, it’s open. Like most other valves, you should be able to turn a radiator valve counterclockwise (to the left) to open it and clockwise (right) to close it. To close a radiator valve, turn it clockwise until you meet some resistance and can’t turn anymore, but do so carefully to avoid breaking the valve.

The best time of year to purchase or replace an HVAC system, including components like an air conditioner or furnace, is during the off-season—spring and fall. During these periods, HVAC professionals are less busy than in summer and winter, when extreme temperatures create urgent demand. Shopping during the off-season can lead to savings of 10% to 15% on an AC unit and allows you more time to find the best deal and other cost-saving incentives. Typically, air conditioning units go on sale in the fall after demand drops, while furnace prices tend to decrease in the spring.

The primary differences between a heat pump and a boiler are their function and how they produce heat. A heat pump is a versatile system that provides both heating and cooling by moving ambient air and altering its temperature. In contrast, a boiler is solely a heating system, often working with a furnace or AC unit as part of a larger HVAC system. In terms of heat production, a heat pump generates heat more slowly and at a lower temperature, requiring a large convector for distribution. A boiler, however, produces a large amount of high-temperature heat that it emits through smaller radiators.
