"The installation crew was Five Star. Removing all windows downstairs/ Upstairs on a 3000 sq ft house was a big job. These fellows were prompt, meticulous, professional in every respect. I was in the trades for over 40 years; watching this team was like watching a ballet. Synchronized, efficient, every step counted. Thank you Access Windows for sending a terrific crew and a job well done."

"I had security windows with damaged springs for over 1 yr, searched everywhere and asked around without any success. Finally I visited Angie's list , read reviews and made an appointment with this provider. Mike and his secretary were very professional and experienced. He came in and did an evaluation. He knew exactly what was needed. To think I have had this problem with my security front windows not holding up when open and couldn't find help anywhere. I believe the springs were damaged , but no one knew who could repair it. However, thanks to Angie's list and the individual reviews which were true to character. That is why I take time to review and recommend to help others find help when they need it. MIke and his secretary were true to reviews. He did the repairs with 2yrs warranty.Never had a problem since then.I am now able to keep my windows open without looking for something to hold them up or have to replace them. He repaired the balance rods which he provided and included in the bill also replaced the locks, which I never knew could be repaired. It appeared so simple, but without his knowledge it was like rocket science to the others I consulted previously. The bill was affordable. Thanks Mike, you did a great job. I highly recommend. Again thanks to Angie's list for making true professionals available to us.

"I literally spent almost two years researching this project as it was a big investment for me. I visited about 6 different companies around Ft. Lauderdale, looked at all the different manufacturers and their products, and had 4 local companies come to provide estimates. I decided to go with East Coast for a couple reason. The salesperson was very good and did not try and oversell me. He showed me the companies product lines and then walked the entire house with me asking what I wanted in each space. What I appreciated most was he offered me innovative solutions to a very large picture window I have in the from of the house - advising me he could find a better product for this window then the standard PGI solution the company uses. ( The window looks great by the way.) He also offered a better front door solution, recommending a local vendor that does a better job on bermuda doors. The other 3 companies had one product line from one company and only offered solutions from that manufacturer. I also appreciated the way East Coast did it's pricing. They gave me a straight forward quote - while all the other companies gave very high quotes - and then 'discounted' them by over $10,000 dollars or more. It was so hard to figure out actually pricing - as these huge discount made it look like a great deal - but many were still higher than East Coast. Of my top two choices- the second company lost my business when the salesperson called a few weeks later to tell me she had gotten an extra $2,000 on top of the $12,000 discount already offered for me as an extra special offer! SO - I knew this company's approach was to slowly see how much they could get from me by slow rolling discounts at me to see when i would bite. Totally ****** me off. East Coast was not the cheapest of the estimates - but the differences were very small comparatively. The permit and scheduling process took a bit of time, but once the crew got started - they pretty much finished everything in about 2 days - with one more day to make final touches. I am really pleased with the final product! The windows look great and they did a professional job on the caulking. One small think was the salesperson indicated they would fill the holes with filler that matched at least closely to the color of the house - which was not true. I will have to paint the house - but honestly it was my choice to have them remove all the shudders - so I knew this was likely going to be the case. Lastly - I appreciated how actively involved the owners and senior leaders of the company were in my project. The owners came to meet me, did a final review of the estimate and the measurements themselves, and they called and checked on the job throughout the process and after. I would highly recommend East Coast and am so glad I decided to go with them."

"We purchased impact windows and doors to replace our old windows and 2 french doors, from Locktight and we couldn't be happier with the entire process and products. The windows and doors are everything we hoped they would be. Communication with Locktight has been topnotch throughout; and, the removal of the old windows and installation of the new windows was quick, incredibly professional and impeccably neat. The windows themselves are beautiful, high quality and nearly soundproof. They have improved the appearance of the exterior of our house significantly. We highly recommend Locktight to anyone considering replacing/upgrading their windows and/or doors."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.

On average, hurricane windows last between 20 and 30 years. But some windows only last 10 years, while others can last 50 years or longer. Vinyl hurricane windows have a shorter lifespan than aluminum, so invest in high-quality hurricane windows and properly maintain them to get the most out of your investment.

You can add any type of window to a brick house, so long as the window has proper support. Windows with wider openings and windows in brick walls will need a lintel to support the extra weight above the window frame. A lintel is a support beam that distributes the weight from above evenly around the window.

A window can fall off a track for a large number of reasons. The most common ones usually involve an issue with the track itself or the wheels that glide along it. If the track is bent or broken, the wheels can’t slide. If the wheels are broken or are full of debris, they won’t spin, and you will have to force the window open. The good news is that most window track issues are easy fixes, even for beginner DIYers.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.
