"Outstanding. I noticed the other day that my front porch light had dropped out of the recessed receptacle and was hanging by its wires. I quickly contacted several electricians from Angie's list and only heard back from two of them. Both were pleasant and helpful. One could not get to me for about 7-9 days. The other (Phaze Electric) had me on their schedule the next day. Jerome showed up early and quickly assessed what was needed. He obtained the necessary part from Lowe's and was back in a flash to remove the old housing and install the new one. I also used Phaze Electric a couple of years ago to hang ceiling fans on my back porch and they did an excellent job then, too. Phaze Electric will be the company I call in the future for all my electrical needs. I trust them to do a great job at a reasonable price."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Clermont, frequent mistakes include skipping required electrical permits, using non-compliant materials, and hiring unlicensed workers. These errors can result in failed inspections, fines from the City of Clermont Building Department, and increased fire risk. To avoid issues, always follow local electrical code, source materials from reputable Clermont suppliers, and hire a licensed electrician registered with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Clermont, choose copper wiring and THHN/THWN insulation to meet local electrical code requirements, especially for areas prone to humidity. The City of Clermont Building Department recommends using weather-rated junction boxes for outdoor work. Local electrical supply stores in Clermont stock code-compliant materials, making it easier to source approved products for your project and pass inspections.

Helpful?

In Clermont, most electrical projects—such as service upgrades, new circuit installations, or adding outdoor lighting—require an electrical permit from the City of Clermont Building Department. You'll need to provide detailed plans and specify your scope of work. Only minor repairs, like replacing outlets or switches, are exempt. All work must comply with the Florida Building Code and National Electrical Code, as enforced by local inspectors.

Helpful?

After completing electrical work in Clermont, schedule periodic inspections to check for code compliance and safety, as recommended by the City of Clermont Building Department. Inspect panels for corrosion, test GFCI outlets, and ensure surge protectors are functional, especially before hurricane season. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation also advises trimming trees near lines and maintaining clear access to outdoor electrical panels.

Helpful?

In Clermont, DIY electrical work can save money for minor tasks, but risks include code violations, safety hazards, and failed inspections by the City of Clermont Building Department. Hiring a licensed electrician ensures your project meets local electrical permit requirements and passes inspection. While professional help costs more upfront, it provides peace of mind, warranty coverage, and compliance with Florida Building Code standards.
