"I called At Your Service A/C as my a/c was not working. Matt arrived during the time frame he said he would he discovered the problem was my evap coil, gave me the price to replace, I made a couple of quick calls to make sure the price was in line, and it was better than what I was given on the phone. I agreed, and that same day I had cool a/c again. I could not have been happier."

"Osbert was one of the most knowledgeable hvac techs I have met. My furnace trouble (2 yr old unit) had several causes and he persevered until he found them all. Believe it or not, one of the main problems was that a screw on the thermostat was incorrectly installed, so the thermostat wasn't always triggering the air handler. Ive done business with them for more than 10 years, both at home and for my rental property, and Ive never been disappointed. Highly recommend!"

"I knew I was going to have to replace my very old central air conditioning unit and had taken bids almost a year and a half ago, yet I was putting it off for financial reasons. When my old unit finally quit working last week I decided to go ahead and replace it rather than try to fix it. I called Paul at Polar Bear Air and he had a crew out the very next day. Upon inspection it was decided I need all new ductwork. The old ductwork was falling apart, and was not delivering cold air to different parts of the condo. The installer, Matt worked tirelessly over the next two days installing the ductwork in our very hot attic. And replaced the units inside and out. When I asked if there was a way I could finance half of the expense, as the ductwork put me over budget, Paul arranged financing through a company within ten minutes of my request. Living in very cool surroundings now thanks to Polar Bear! I would highly recommend them to anyone needing HVAC work in the Ft. Myer, Cape Coral, Naples"

"Luis responded quickly & arrived promptly. He was courteous, honest & his rate was very reasonable. We have been through several AC companies since moving here & always felt we weren't being told the whole truth. Other companies said we needed an entire system replacement-using scare tactics, etc. quoting thousands & thousands of dollars. Luis serviced our unit & replaced a part for a fair price-our AC is working great! Many thanks-we will be calling Air & Heat Dynamics from now on!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Some HVAC systems tend to use R410A refrigerant, although if you have an older model it may be using R22. R22 is banned due to its harmful environmental and health impacts, and it is a sign that your AC unit is old enough to consider a replacement and the significant efficiency gains that could come with it.

Here’s how AC professionals will clean your AC coils:

  1. Unplug the AC unit or turn off the breaker to the unit in your circuit breaker box.

  2. Remove the faceplate.

  3. Spray a vacuum hose attachment or compressed air can to remove debris, dust, dirt, and grime.

  4. Use a soft-bristled fin comb to remove stubborn caked-on debris.

  5. Use the vacuum hose to suck up any extra debris.

  6. Take a coil-safe cleaning solution and spray it onto the coils. Try to choose a no-rinse solution.

  7. Let the solution sit for at least 15 minutes.

  8. Gently wipe away loosened grime and debris with a microfiber cloth.

  9. Reattach the faceplate, plug in your AC system, or turn the breaker back on.

No, not all HVAC systems have a fresh air intake, but there are many advantages to having one. For example, a fresh air intake can boost the air quality inside your home and help your furnace run more effectively. Plus, it can make your house more energy efficient, possibly saving you money on your utility costs.

Dirty filters are almost always the cause of poor airflow, so they should be regularly cleaned and then replaced as needed. The fan blades can also get dirty, so they should be cleaned when the unit is turned off. Make sure that the outdoor area around the back of the unit is unobstructed. Trees, shrubs, trash, and other objects could be too close to your unit.

It depends on the type of AC unit and the extent of the mold growth. For example, if you have a small amount of mold in your central air conditioner, it’s worth cleaning it to protect your HVAC system and your health. In situations like these, you can often remove the mold yourself in a couple of hours. On the other hand, if you have a portable AC unit with a severe mold problem, it makes more sense to buy a new one. On average, replacing a portable AC unit costs $100 to $500.
