"I am very happy with Southern Pest. After having several other pest companies, including the well known ones come to my home and tell me I had no termites, I almost couldn't believe what they were saying. "The technician inspected the home on the interior and exterior, then applied the termite treatment externally. He did not need to drill holes under the concrete slabs as he was able to remove the plugs that were in the holes when the property was originally treated. He needed to borrow my watering hose as his was not long enough to make it all around the property, but rolled it up neatly when he was finished. He also mentioned that he saw some evidence of other pests that I should monitor.

Yes, bats can cause quite a bit of damage to the attic. Their weight and movement from flying around can damage insulation, and they can chew through wiring and the walls. As if this isn’t enough, they leave their droppings throughout, which carry harmful bacteria and is dangerous for humans to breathe in, not to mention the extremely foul-smelling odor.

Bed bugs are highly sensitive to heat, so a hot blast with a hairdryer can draw them out of hiding. Providing a source of warmth, such as a heating pad or hot-water bottle, can attract and lure them out. Bed bug monitors and traps with pheromones can also be effective.

Once the animals and their young are out of the house, remove the nest and locate any entry points. Some may be difficult to find because some animals can fit through very small holes. Once you’ve located as many entry points as possible, use materials such as metal or masonry to block off the entry. Ideally, you should choose materials that most animals cannot chew through. Create a one-way door or flap to allow animals to leave but not return. Additional methods include using repellants designed to make an area unappealing to the types of animals that find your home so inviting.
