"I had the fence in my backyard blown down by Hurricane Debby snapping most of the 4x4 center posts. 3 A's Fencing came to the house and gave me a very reasonable quote. Twelve days later, 3 A's replaced all the center posts, reattached the fence in a few hours and had my fence looking like new. I will hire them again if I need any fencing work in the future."

"Gary did an excellent job. Price was reasonable, he prepped everything and protected surrounding areas, primed and painted, added new hardware, cleaned up. Everything looks great. Would definitely recommend and will use him again for future projects. He did not require any payment until the job was completed to my satisfaction."

"Ron uses USA wood rather than cheaper imported wood. He paints/stains the fence with a sprayer which provides a solid color. He does what he says he will do and did not require any payment until his work was finished."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Fencing projects in Alachua can be complicated by karst terrain, which may include hidden sinkholes or limestone layers. Properties near wetlands, with mature trees, or on irregularly shaped lots often require custom solutions. If your land is in a flood-prone area or historic district, expect additional planning, possible use of specialized materials, and careful attention to local environmental or preservation requirements.

Helpful?

In Alachua, letting sprinkler systems soak fence bases, ignoring minor repairs, or allowing vines to climb can speed up deterioration. Storing firewood or debris against the fence attracts pests and traps moisture, leading to rot. Using harsh cleaners or high-pressure washers can strip protective finishes. Overlooking drainage issues or skipping regular gate checks also reduces the overall lifespan of your fencing.

Helpful?

When planning fencing projects in Alachua, focus on property boundaries, drainage flow, and utility easements, as these are closely regulated. Pay special attention to areas near large oak or pine trees, since root systems can impact fence placement. If your property borders wetlands or is within a neighborhood with HOA rules, these zones require extra review to ensure compliance with local guidelines.

Helpful?

Due to Alachua’s humid climate and frequent storms, fencing needs regular upkeep. Inspect for rot, mildew, and loose posts every six months, and treat wood to resist moisture. Before hurricane season, reinforce panels and check for weak spots. Trim back foliage monthly to prevent overgrowth, and look for termite activity each spring. Consistent maintenance helps fences withstand local weather and environmental challenges.

Helpful?

In Alachua, prioritize fencing projects if you’re preparing for hurricane season, have pool safety concerns, or need to resolve property line issues—these can affect safety and compliance. Address storm damage or leaning sections promptly to prevent further issues. For purely cosmetic upgrades or small repairs, consider waiting until the dry season, when installation conditions are better and humidity is lower for optimal fence longevity.
