"The 4-man team arrived on time and went to work! The tree was very awkward to reach and so a crane was used. Each man was skilled & professional. I was truly impressed — a thorough and safe job — a major effort, really well done -- in about 4 hours. I highly recommend Brandywine Tree & Shrub."

"Martin Alvarez installed a beautiful paver patio at my home. From start to finish, he was professional, responsive and did a GREAT job! Martin provided a written price quote, explained the process, showed me examples of his work and completed the project before the expected date of completion. His team was polite, prompt and cleaned up! I truly cannot say enough good things!! I will be calling Martin for future projects!!"

"I highly recommend WH Lincoln for large and small jobs. While regularly employed for heavy highway and earth construction, they showed up same day to quote on our small residential grading project. Their pricing was way below the other competitors, and they showed up the following day and completed the work in 5 hours. We have used at least 4 different earth contractors over 12 years, and Lincoln is by far the best and least expensive. Great discovery. Props to Charles for his expert dozer work, and to John for helping in the design."

"Had this company clean/inspect our wood burning stove when we bought our house a year ago. After the huge wind storm the cap for the chimney fell off. Called around 11am to get it repairs… Chris had his crew around our area was literally there in less than 20 minutes and everything was fixed! Awesome company. Will be using them for everything."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The cost to drill a well varies, with a national average of around $5,500 for a 150-foot well. However, prices can fluctuate significantly based on several factors, including your location, the required well depth, geological conditions, local regulations, and the specific drilling methods used. For the most accurate cost assessment, it is best to research and get quotes from local well-drilling professionals in your area.

Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.

Concrete blocks are the cheapest way to base a shed. However, the space in between allows critters to go under, burrow, and even damage your shed’s frame. For a more pest-proof option, consider building a shed base with gravel or paver stones. Both options are fairly affordable and easy enough for a DIY project. For gravel, you can build a wooden frame to contain the loose material.

Consultation with the local government helps identify necessary permits, avoid project delays or legal issues, and protect project integrity.

The rules and regulations regarding groundwater use vary between states. To find out if you can dig a well on your property, you’ll have to consult these regulations, address any compliance requirements, and get the appropriate permits. It’s also important to check that your intended location has the right geology and water table to support a well.
