"I absolutely do not recommend this company. I honestly have no idea where they got all these stars from. It’s been three weeks now that I’ve been waiting for a water heater replacement, and having no hot water for three weeks is a disaster. I follow up every single day, and every day they give me a different excuse: “We’ve coordinated with the technician,” or “They will contact you soon,” — but not even one call came through. Today, they finally called and scheduled a time, but no one showed up. This company is completely irresponsible. Also, just to replace the water heater, they charged me $100 upfront for the service call, then told me I would need to pay an additional $730 out of pocket because they only cover the cost of the water heater itself — all necessary parts and installation are my responsibility. I reluctantly agreed just to get hot water restored as soon as possible, but still, after three weeks, I have no hot water. Honestly, where did you get these stars from? This is an irresponsible company."

"The initial appointment went well; however, the contractor ended up being dishonest and extremely aggressive and rude. AHS is a home warranty program that charges an initial service fee for a contractor to come to the house to fix common maintenance problems. The issue was a leaky pipe underneath the bathroom sink probably due to a rusted ring. The contractor assessed the problem and reported to AHS that the ring needed to be replaced and that the stopper mechanism was loose and needed to be replaced. They also reported to AHS that a piece was missing from the stopper mechanism (which wasn't missing at all). Due to the missing piece, AHS said they would only cover the leaky drain. The contractor called a week after the initial appointment to reschedule the maintenance. As with most, I had to take off the entire afternoon from work for this appointment because they could not give me an exact time that they would arrive. I contacted the contractor at around 5:30 and he said that the only way that they would come was if I paid them an additional $250.00 to replace the stopper mechanism while they were fixing the leaky pipe. I told them that i preferred not to have the stopper mechanism fixed because a) it wasn't broken and b) it had nothing to do with the leaky pipe. It really goes south from here. The contractor started yelling at me over the phone using foul expletives to explain how he felt about my opinion about the stopper mechanism and further stated that if i wanted any service at all, I'd have to pay him $250.00 additional. I was a bit shocked (even though I'm used to rough contractors in Washington, DC and hung up the phone). This is the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. First they try to hold my sink ransom for extra money then they tried to aggressively try to get extra money through some sort of fear tactic. I would not consider using this contractor again. My only advice is beware and look somewhere else."

Home Warranties questions, answered by experts

Many HVAC manufacturers provide warranties that encompass the cost of a new compressor, with durations ranging from 5 to 10 years, depending on the brand. These warranties cover critical components such as the compressor, condenser, connecting tubing, evaporator, and refrigerant charge. Moreover, they often include the necessary labor for replacement or repairs. Keep in mind that premium-brand compressors may offer lifetime warranty options. It's essential to note that these warranties rarely cover labor costs.

Yes, laying laminate over carpet may void the warranty of your flooring. Most laminate manufacturers specify installation over a suitable subfloor, not carpet. Deviating from these installation guidelines can invalidate the warranty. You should stick to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure warranty coverage, and you should always consult with professional laminate flooring installers near you if you have any concerns or questions regarding installation methods.

In most cases, standard homeowners insurance will not cover sump pump failure, even during a storm. However, some plans will cover damage depending on the source of the water and if the flooding came from a sudden unexpected event, such as a burst pipe not caused by negligence. You will likely need to purchase additional water damage and sump pump insurance to prepare for the event your sump pump cannot do the job.

In most cases, appliance warranties do not transfer to new owners. However, some exceptions apply. To check the status of your appliance warranty and whether you can transfer it when you move, review the terms and conditions of your warranties or consult your home warranty service. When purchasing a new appliance or one from a previous owner, be sure to pay attention to its warranty status, including the type of coverage and any exclusions.

Many contractors offer warranties for parts and labor. Confirm terms before hiring.
