I was down in Georgia so I was required to use under a home warranty something in Oxford. I had checked them with Angie's list and they don't rate them anymore because they are not considered good enough to rate out of Atlanta. I am 300 miles away from there. Part of the price was covered by my home warranty company. They are a long way away and don't ever arrive on time. I really don't have a local contact for follow up if something is not right. It troubles me that this service is provided by somebody 300 miles away.
I sat here with no A/C all day
The following Monday, Feb 10 (nine days in and we've slept at the neighbor's house four of those days due to freezing temps) Oxford called to say that their technician would go pick up the part from their supplier and be out later that afternoon. About an hour later they called back to say that their supplier didn't have the part and couldn't find it. They further advised that they'd turned to AHS for assistance in finding the part. The next day, Tuesday, Feb 11, we were able to confirm that AHS had found the part (a Carrier motor) at two different locations (one, the town next to where we live!) in the metro ATLANTA area!! Seems Oxford had botched or lost the order for the part. AHS expedited delivery of the part - in the midst of a huge snow/sleet/ice storm that shut down Atlanta for a couple of days - to Oxford's supplier.
Our expectation was that Oxford would pick up the part on Thursday, Feb 13 or Friday, Feb 14 and come right out to install it. When we'd heard nothing further from them by Thursday afternoon, Feb 13, we began calling them and leaving messages requesting a status update. They never returned our calls.
The next morning, Friday, Feb 14 we were able to speak to someone at Oxford and confirm that they had the part . . . but REFUSED to come out and install it before the following Monday morning, Feb 17. They acknowledged that they WOULD be working over the weekend of Feb 15/16 to get caught up on the impact of the big snow storm . . . but still REFUSED to put us on the weekend schedule. We asked for and were promised a call back from a manager at Oxford. It never happened.
We then contacted AHS to work the problem. They advised us that they had spoken to Oxford and offerred them time and half wages to get the repair done over the weekend. Oxford still REFUSED to do so.
Finally - after 16 days without heat in weather mostly at or below freezing, ten days inconviencing our next door neighbor, nearly a cord of firewood burned trying to keep the interior of the house above freezing to protect the plumbing pipes, multiple broken promises for callbacks, and a lot of frazzled nerves - Oxford came out first thing Monday morning, Feb 17 and made the repair to our furnace.
