"Showed up quickly performed the work they said they would do for the price. everything was straightforward and simple and they left us with a color video of the inside of my septic system which was super cool and well worth the $950 for the peace of mind of knowing what’s in the ground. ❤️❤️❤️"

"The septic tank had not been cleaned for over 10 years. Bill, from Flushaway Septic came within an hour and a half of my phone call. He explained what had to be done after opening up the septic tank and did the job promptly and neatly leaving the area perfectly clean. He charged $275 for a total pump out with lots of solid waste. He explained how to keep the tank clean and suggested a cleaning every 3 years. I highly recommend him to anyone needing this service."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Baking soda does very little to nothing for a septic tank, but it can help unclog a drain or clean out a garbage disposal. Rotten tomatoes and yeast are the best ways to increase the bacteria in your septic tank naturally. You can add these to your system once every three months.

Costs depend on tank accessibility, size, and local rates. Regular service serves as preventive care, averting costly emergency repairs or system replacements.

A septic tank riser should extend to just above the ground level or slightly above it. The exact height can vary depending on local regulations and personal preferences, but a common guideline is to have the riser's top flush with or no more than a few inches above the surrounding ground. This height allows for easy access to the septic tank without creating a tripping hazard or obstructing mowing and landscaping activities. It's essential to ensure that the riser lid is easily visible and accessible for regular maintenance and inspection while being mindful of safety and aesthetics.

You can cover a septic tank riser with dirt, but it’s not always the best idea. If you have a plastic riser and you bury it, you can easily lose track of it since you won’t be able to find it with a metal detector. Make sure to clearly note where your rise is in your yard so that you’re able to access it easily the next time you or a septic pro needs it. Don’t bury the cover too deep or you could place too much stress on it and make it too difficult to access in the future.

Soda, coffee, and other soft drinks are highly acidic. This affects the pH in septic tanks, causing them to require more frequent pumping. However, a vast majority of people don't need to worry about septic system disruption. Pouring out the occasional flat soda doesn’t affect septic systems to the same degree as the high-volume dumping from restaurants and convenience stores.
