"Workmen were excellent. They asked for direction when appropriate, but otherwise worked independently as a well coordinated team. Finished shower and plumbing is great. No issues whatsoever."

"They are good and prompt, but expensive. Project, replace toilet wax ring. Replace lavatory sink tail piece and lavatory sink stopper assembly I needed this done fairly quickly as the toilet was starting to drip water into a ceiling area below. The telephone staff who set up our appointment were great. Response time was short. Once the technician arrived, he was up front with pricing, so I knew what their price would be. I did postpone other less urgent work because of the price. The cost for these two items was almost $1000. Past experience with other plumbers would have been in the $700 range. However, TMS was available, and they were not If the price had been more in line, I will probably use them as my regular."

"They cut out the old dry wall, removed any and all mold, then replaced the dry wall, placed a tub and shower unit, they had their plumber come in and adjust our piping and install our new shower head and tub faucet all within 6-7 hrs. The installers were very nice, respectful, polite young men-- I would 10/10 recommend this company!!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Completing plumbing upgrades provides immediate protection against destructive winter freeze damage and improves your daily water quality. In the long term, permitted work protects your CT property value during real estate appraisals. Upgrading fixtures reduces the hydraulic load on your private septic system, extending the life of your leach field. Proactive maintenance also prevents sudden emergencies and ensures compliance with state environmental regulations.

Helpful?

Local permits mandate inspections after rough-in and project completion, extending project timelines. Ledyard features a mix of public water and private well or septic systems, which demand separate coordination steps. Additionally, the region features glacially deposited rocky soils. Underground plumbing repairs hit ledge rock or boulders, requiring extra excavation time and equipment that necessitate multiple visits.

Helpful?

Upgrading your plumbing directly impacts several other household systems. Many older Ledyard homes rely on hydronic heating, meaning water supply changes affect your boiler feed lines. Adding bathrooms increases the hydraulic load on your private septic system. Replacing cast iron drain lines requires opening foundation walls, altering structural elements. Furthermore, well pump and electric water heater repairs require coordinated electrical panel access.

Helpful?

Build a strong plumbing routine by inspecting pipe insulation in unheated spaces before CT winters arrive to prevent freezing. In spring, check your sump pump to handle heavy snowmelt and inspect exterior lines for frost heave damage. During summer, verify well pump pressure and look for irrigation leaks. Each fall, drain outdoor hose bibs before the first freeze and test well water quality.

Helpful?

You must sign off on local permit applications and coordinate access for municipal inspections. For properties in Ledyard on private systems, you are responsible for authorizing septic pumping schedules and well pump replacements based on water testing. Inside the home, you must finalize all fixture placements before rough-in plumbing begins. Finally, confirm your property easement locations before any exterior excavation starts.
