This was a much smaller project that Mr. Mackin's company usually does. It took a while to co-ordinate schedules with him to arrange a day to do the demolition. He was concerned about his equipment damaging my lawn since we had had a lot of rain. When we finally booked a date, he and his son showed up on time, and finished the project in less time than I expected. They cleaned up the area and secured the fencing, and gave me some good advice on how to proceed with the rest of my project. And there was no damage to the lawn! Would hire again.

Dan did a great job. he handled all the paperwork, permits, town officials, etc. The job was completed on time and on budget. There needed to be some adjustments made to the original plan and Dan was able to come up with quick solutions in a timely manner. Working with this company doing such a huge job was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I have done many projects having owned 3 other homes in the past. I dreaded this job because of the not knowing what problems could arise. I had a very old cesspool and I have had problems with it from the time I moved intio this house, although I did have it inspected by a welI known inspection company in Stonington, and put it off for years but was forced to do it before the winter set in. Dan was highly recommended to me by a co-worker, and although I did do dilegence and look at other companies, I knew once I met Dan I would choose his company and I am glad I did. Dan did all the grunt work as far as the permits, town officials, engineer, water co., well co., etc. As with any job some changes had to be made, due to the site, and Dan was able to make the changes necessary quickley and the job continued right on time. The cost was good and there were a couple of added items, due to the site and my wishes, but Dan let me know what they would be before he did anything. Everything was clean and put back together before he left and I am now free to relax when I have a lot of company come to my house. The holidays will be so mush less stressful for me this year. When in need of a new septic system to replace an aging cesspool I contacted several advertised septic companies. Site estimates were from $15,000 to $20,000 for a simple installation to $25,000 - $30,000 with difficulties. So, with the information found on Home Advisor we chose Dan Mackin Jr. Construction from Jewett City, CT (860-376-6591 or 860639-7933) whose estimate after examination of the site was $13,200. It turned out the only acceptable area required extensive ledge removal! Mackin Construction removed the ledge at no extra cost. After installation was complete, the area was totally restored to our satisfaction. At no time was there a lack of communication (verbal or digital) between the customer and the contractor. Payoff was $13, 050 because we were credited $150 for parts not needed. BOTTOM LINE: This is one of the last family owned businesses of this kind that deliver a quality product at a fair price!

Mr. Mackin was awesome for diagnosing and fixing our septic system problem. The replacement system was put in very professionally and he leveled and cleared the yard of all debris. I would highly recommend Dan Mackin Construction for any homeowner. While digging in my yard he unearthed huge rocks and removed them, as well as a tree that needed to be removed.

Dan Mackin two years ago did all of the excavation work for my new home on a very difficult piece of property - lots of huge boulders and ledge had to be removed and broken up - can't tell you how much stone is buried in my backyard because of his expertise to dispose of all of it. I didn't think I would have much of a yard with all of the rocks and poor soil - much to my amazement, Dan had great ideas for my future landscaping plans. My property now has great contours to it and is very livable and pleasing to the eye - I am so pleased with his ideas and expertise. So happy I hired him again for my patio!!
