"Joe and his team were precise with their estimate of the problem. They arrived on time and were ready to go. Had all the materials needed to do the job and knocked it out within a matter of hours. When I asked about an additional service for the refrigerator water line, they jumped right on it. To have my well pipe raised, a new whole house filter system installed and the refrigerator completed, was under $1,400.00 and the systems have worked like a champ ever since."

Small jobs welcome

"He did a lot more than cleared a toilet pipe blockage. He was definitely experienced with locating a blockage without creating a mess or disrupting activities. He cleared te pipe all the way to the septic tank. Courteous, professional, and I now have a complete video inspection of the system. I am a DIYer on most stuff, but a pro was the way to go for this."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Basement toilets don’t always need a pump. However, it is the most common setup because plumbing systems use gravity to move waste away from the home. Basement toilets often sit below the home’s main sewage system, and installing a sewage ejector pump pushes the wastewater and sewage up to the main sewer line. Alternatively, you can use an upflush or macerator toilet that breaks down the waste and pushes it straight to the main sewer line rather than via a sewer line from the bathroom.

Replacing a standard toilet with an elongated one is straightforward. The two types can be installed using the same existing drainpipe and plumbing. If you have a small bathroom, make sure that an elongated toilet doesn’t violate local building codes for clearance, which is the space between fixtures and walls.

If you notice that your toilet is leaking puddles near the base, the leak is coming from your toilet bowl, and the water could be unsanitary. This is a situation that needs to be dealt with immediately—call a nearby plumbing repair pro right away. A contained leak from tank to bowl is not as urgent a situation, but it could be raising the cost of your water bill—have it looked at as soon as you can.

Yes, pressure-assist toilets leak, but less often than regular toilets. You might experience leaks from your toilet due to worn-out parts, water pressure in your plumbing that’s too high or low, poor installation, or cracks in your tank. These toilets are harder to fix on your own than gravity-fed ones, so it’s best to call a plumber if you can’t figure out what’s wrong,

Whether wall-mounted or floor-mounted toilets are better comes down to personal preference.

Overall, standard floor-mount toilets are less expensive to purchase and install, but they don’t offer the streamlined, modern appearance and adjustable height of wall-hung toilets. Ease of cleaning should also be considered, as wall-hung toilets are easier to clean than standard models.
