"Williams & Associates replaced an ancient, very large old boiler in my very large house. Bruce calculated the necessary size and found a suitable boiler. He and his crew thoroughly cleared the radiators and lines before removing the old boiler and installing the new one. They checked all the radiators and added new valves as needed during a lengthy checkout. It took several days to do all the work. Throughout, Bruce explained what they were doing and why as well as recommending changes/additions to the original proposal. They were even cheerful about removing the original "Mary Jane" from the basement. I would definitely recommend them to anyone using steam heat. Great job!"

"I took off work. The technician arrived said they were not qualified to work on Combi-tankless boilers; though I had explained over the phone when making the appointment; the Combi boiler I had, and the code e352, that I couldn't maintain heat. The boiler shutting down, and I worked nights; so please don't arrive before noon. Upset, I bleed the system myself and refilled going by the Navien manuals I had. The code e352 was gone. The psi was lower, the boiler didn't shut off. But psi was still a little high above 30. Hurley and David could only reschedule for the next day 12Pm to 4PM. Getting up (sleeping in because I work nights) I had 3 phone calls from 9:30am on, Hurley and David saying they were unable to reach me. That additional frustration got ironed out. A technician was sent. His name is Macauley. He immediately knew I needed an expansion tank and replaced same. The price was high, but his professionalism and communication skills made all the difference. And the psi normal"

"Overall experience was professional and very good. Although it took some time to get details nailed down and to get the installation scheduled, once a date was set, the Combustion Mechanical Services team was well coordinated, efficient and worked as cleanly as could be expected considering the job. It should be noted that since our boiler failed in late spring, with no heating requirements we were clear that there was no real rush for the install and that we were flexible. If there is one area where there may be an opportunity for improvement, I would recommend that system head loss calculations for each installation be done routinely by CMS as the original pumps specified for the job could be considered marginal for our application. As a Mechanical Engineer, I would rather pay a little more up front for pumps that are well-suited for the job than risk having a pump fail early (at an inconvenient time) because it does not quite have the power needed to easily do the job. Overall an excellent job with which we are very satisfied. I would highly recommend Combustion Mechanical Services and especially Steve Cole to anyone interested in a high-quality professional job."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on system size, efficiency rating, and additional features like zoning or smart controls.

Most propane boilers last 15 to 20 years with regular maintenance and proper care. The lifespan depends on the quality of the unit, proper installation, and the level of maintenance. Investing in annual service can maximize longevity and efficiency. Routine inspections and timely repairs prevent early breakdown, ensuring your boiler heats your home for years to come.

You should get anywhere from three to five quotes for HVAC replacement to get an idea of the average cost of a new unit. Although this quote-collecting process can be time consuming, it allows you to compare what work is required, what type of unit you should install, and how much you should expect to pay for the service.

The cost of heating oil fluctuates rapidly based on supply and demand, but the average price is between $4.00 and $4.50 per gallon, which means filling a standard 275-gallon tank would cost between $1,100 and $1,240. Much like automotive gasoline, the price of home heating oil changes constantly, so the only way to get an accurate and current price per gallon is to contact a heating oil delivery company. Some companies also offer contracts with a set price that should be an average cost over the contract term.

If you hear your radiator clanking even when it’s turned off, it’s typically because there’s trapped water or air in the system, causing a pressure buildup. When you hear significant clanking, popping, crackling, or banging in a radiator that’s turned off, you’ll want to bleed the pipes or call in an HVAC specialist to deal with the problem (and prevent it from happening in the future).
