"They came and measured chimneys on the first visit (2 large chimneys, three stories up). Caps were delivered a week or so later. They came back and installed them. Professional and punctual. Answered all of my questions. Great to work with."

"Had some concerns about my wood stove - gasket sealing, safety. Had them come out to clean the stove pipe, inspect the wood stove, and clean a fireplace chimney. Staff was very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and professional. Told me the fireplace chimney didn't need cleaning, and that the wood stove gaskets were fine. Cleaned the stove pipe and left no mess. Will definitely use them in the future.

"Took advantage of a promotion that this company ran for chimney cleaning. Although the promotion expired, they did honor the quote/price--which I appreciated. The crew came out and did the job. They were careful and didn't make any mess, which I appreciated. The cleaning was done from the bottom-up (going up through the chimney) which I didn't expect--although it makes sense. However, I have a very tall chimney (100+ feet up - it's a large 3-floor victorian house) so I wondered how that type of cleaning would work. Anyway, they did the job and I thought I got a good deal. However, I had a mason out for some other work on the chimney. When he did a full inspection he said the cleaning had only gone 'half-way' up and that they didn't do a complete job. I trust the mason more, because he did some significant jobs for multiple friends. Also, I was asking the crew leader for a quote for chimney caps. He said they could do it, but that they would definitely need a lift because of the height. And that a lift would probably cost $1000 or more (that didn't include the cost of installing the chimney cap either). Not sure if he was just trying to discourage me from choosing them for the work, but the conversation felt a little 'slick' to me. Anyway, the mason quoted me $400 for each and would go up on the roof without a lift. So clearly I didn't need to spend over $2000 to get the caps done. So in short, this is 'you get what your pay for.' If you have small house, it's probably perfect. But for me, they short-cut the job which is a disappointment."

"The chimney work took two days (less than I thought) and he did a great job in our price range!  I was impressed that he gave us several options on what could be done.  He worked fast (I wish I had half his energy) and knew what he was doing.  He was respectful of my time and showed up within minutes of when he said he would, got to work and stayed with it to get as much done during the day as he could.  The chimney looks great and I'm very satisfied with his work.  I have hired him again to do some plumbing work for me and was totally satisfied with that job as well.  I would recommend him for any work around the house that you may have - he's definitely worth the call.

"I called this company to receive a quote for chimney cap repairs on a home I was planning to purchase, and was told that a drive-by observation would be completed later that day. It was not, however, and the quote was finally delivered over the phone the next week, after 3 more business days. I requested that I be mailed a written quote that could be submitted to my realtor and attorney, but never received it. The work ended up being completed by the seller before closing, so I did not end up needing to hire a mason to do the repair. While the delay in getting out to the house to estimate the work costs would have been acceptable under normal circumstances, it was a real hindrance to the negotiation process. The most problematic issue was the lack of follow-through with the written estimate. The price I was quoted was fair and reasonable, and I really liked the look of the contractor's work on the company web site, so I would be willing to consider working with him again on a less time-sensitive project."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning of filters and checking ducting ensures effective operation.

Most residential range hoods have a CFM between 200 and 600. A higher CFM means your range hood is better at removing smoke and odors from your kitchen. The measurement ultimately depends on your stove’s width and heat output as well as the size of your kitchen.

Compared to the average size of a stove and kitchen, 350 CFM would be the minimum recommended rating for the average kitchen. However, selecting a higher CFM range hood would guarantee better ventilation to match your cooking habits, whether they’re minimal or extensive.

Yes, with features like LED lighting and variable speed controls for efficiency.

If a range hood has minor issues, the average repair costs $85 to $210. This accounts for both parts and labor. More extensive damage can cost as much as $300 to $500, at which point it may be worth considering completely replacing the range hood.

By positioning ductwork for optimal airflow and reducing potential leaks.
