"I recently had a solar panel system installed by Dynamic Solar, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the entire experience. From start to finish, the process was seamless, professional, and transparent. The team was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain all my options, ensuring I understood the benefits and potential savings. They handled everything—from the permits to the final inspection—making the whole experience hassle-free. The installation itself was quick and efficient, with the crew arriving on time and working diligently to complete the job. They were respectful of my property, leaving everything clean and tidy when they finished. The system was up and running faster than I expected, and I was immediately impressed by the quality of the installation. Since the installation, my energy bills have noticeably decreased, and I’m thrilled with the performance of the solar panels. I also appreciate that Dynamic Solar has been available to answer any follow-up questions I’ve had, demonstrating their commitment to excellent customer service. I highly recommend Dynamic Solar to anyone considering solar. Their combination of expertise, professionalism, and outstanding customer service makes them a top choice. "We will definitely use them again. And when talking about solar for the home just makes sense! I loved how informative Dan and Kevin were about solar requirements and options. We want to put solar up and now we know the benefits of owning it outright as apposed to a PPA we were discussing with other companies. It may take a little longer to get to the point to buy it outright but it is definitely the way were are going to go. Thank you for the help and information!"

"The three technicians that came out did everything the deal specified. They didn't try to up sell us on anything. In fact, they told us what we actually need versus what companies might tell us we need. They worked diligently from the time they arrived until the time they left and proved extremely knowledgeable about their craft. I was very impressed with the way they communicated with me--that is, they explained things without being condescending. We asked for an upgrade on our electrical panel, so we paid them a bit outside the deal. The technician noticed that there was wiring that could have caused a fire, which was incorrectly rigged by the last owner of our house. The technician fixed everything that was incorrectly connected and when it came time for inspection, all the work they did passed with flying colors. All of the areas where they worked were left exceptionally clean. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the work and will definitely use this company in the future for any electrical needs. The integrity and honesty exhibited were enough to make for one satisfied and long term customer!"

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

While you can install solar panels by yourself, it can be a complicated process full of lots of manual labor, risky roof work, and knowledge of electrical wiring. Most solar panel installation projects should be reserved for a trained professional—especially if you plan on connecting your panels to the electrical grid rather than for off-grid use, which doesn’t require utility services.

Solar panels can pay for themselves in five to 15 years, depending on the cost of your system, how much energy it generates, whether you qualify for incentives or power buybacks, and the price of energy in your area. Solar panels pay for themselves over time as they lower electricity bills, so it will take time to recoup your initial investment. However, the longer you have your system, the more money you can save and earn.

Installing solar panels is worth it if you’re frustrated with paying high utility bills, live in a sunny location, and qualify for tax credits and incentives. Most homeowners cut between $650 and $1,500 from their utility bills each year by installing solar panels. Over the course of your panel’s warranty, you could save anywhere from $16,300 to $37,500, though those in sunny areas with high energy costs could save more than $100,000.

Although solar panels harness the sun's power, they come at an environmental cost. The manufacturing process requires large amounts of water and involves hazardous materials like cadmium, silicon, and gallium arsenide. These materials don’t pose safety hazards while the panels are in use but can pose a problem when left in landfills. Over time, hazardous materials can leach into the environment. This is why recycling solar panels whenever possible is better than taking them to landfills.

The best way to save money on solar panels is to take advantage of federal and state solar incentives. For example, the solar investment tax credit (ITC) offered by the federal government can save 30% of your total—if you can take the entire credit, which is based on income taxes owed—or an average of around $9,000. You can check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) for state and local incentives that could save you even more.
