"Tom at TAS Engineering was professional, friendly, helpful, patient and highly competent and efficient. He did the assessment of my attic structural issue and identified the simplest and most cost-effective solution. He ensured that my contractor did the work to his specifications and provided the certified engineering letter that all had been addressed properly. This was exactly what I needed. I would highly recommend him and would hire him again."

Customers say: Quality work

"As a contractor I have worked with many engineers over the last 8-9 years in the Denver area. Fox Engineering is without a doubt the best company I have worked with. I have probably used them on around 20 jobs to this point and they have always provided great fixes, are always on time and have great turnaround on getting drawings. Although those are all very important things when dealing with an engineer, I think the best part of working with this company is their ability to communicated clearly with customers. In my experience this is one of the hardest things when dealing with engineers. I highly recommend using this company for all of your structural engineering needs."

"Before getting any work done to your foundation: 1. Get a structural engineer to go out to look at your property. This is advice someone gave me. 2. Make sure that engineer is Jeremy. This is advice Iâ m passing on to you because he is amazing! Before I was told about getting a structural engineer, several people came out to look at the foundation, giving me an average quote of $20,000 though they never went under the house. Jeremy did go under the house and came out with dozens of photos. He showed, as well as told me, what was actually going on with the foundation. Later he emailed me a link to the photos and attached a summary of his observations. Heâ s polite, professional, meticulous, conscientious and knowledgeable. Heâ s very patient. Answered all of my questions. On top of that, heâ s really affordable. I donâ t often recommend people, but I highly recommend Jeremy."

"Mr. Medeiros was very easy to talk to and exchange ideas. He communicated well - in person and online - and his written work was well laid out. His references were easy to get in touch with and answered all of our questions. We, in the end, went with another architect, for various small reasons. None of which were because we felt that Mr. Medeiros wouldn't provide all that we needed. It was a tough decision. If you are looking for an architect that will design your dream project thoroughly and professionally, you should take the time to meet with Mr. Medeiros."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

For Denver homes, use high-strength concrete and epoxy-coated rebar for foundations to resist freeze-thaw damage. Engineered lumber and steel framing handle Denver’s dry climate well, while galvanized connectors prevent corrosion. Opt for high R-value insulation and hail-resistant roofing to address local weather. Sourcing materials from Denver suppliers ensures compatibility with the city’s altitude and temperature swings.

Helpful?

In Denver, consider the impact of altitude, intense sunlight, and dry air on construction materials and timelines. Expansive clay soils and seasonal groundwater shifts can affect foundation stability. Be mindful of HOA guidelines, historic district restrictions, and wildfire risks. Plan projects for Denver’s optimal construction season and allow extra time for permits and material deliveries, especially during winter months.

Helpful?

When selecting a structural engineering pro in Denver, prioritize those with proven experience handling local soil movement and weather extremes. Ensure they understand snow load and seismic requirements specific to the area. Ask for references from recent Denver projects, verify professional liability insurance, and confirm their familiarity with the city’s permit and inspection processes for structural work.

Helpful?

Completing structural engineering projects in Denver offers immediate safety improvements and ensures your home complies with local building codes. Over time, these upgrades boost property value, enhance energy efficiency, and improve your home’s ability to withstand Denver’s freeze-thaw cycles and expansive clay soils. Proper structural work also reduces risks from shifting foundations and helps maintain your home’s integrity during severe weather events.

Helpful?

Denver homes showing wall or foundation cracks, uneven floors, or sticking doors and windows may need a structural assessment. Properties built before the 1970s, homes with a history of water or hail damage, or those in areas with expansive clay soils are especially at risk. If you’re planning major renovations or additions, a professional structural evaluation is highly recommended.
