"Tom at TAS Engineering was professional, friendly, helpful, patient and highly competent and efficient. He did the assessment of my attic structural issue and identified the simplest and most cost-effective solution. He ensured that my contractor did the work to his specifications and provided the certified engineering letter that all had been addressed properly. This was exactly what I needed. I would highly recommend him and would hire him again."

"RES Engineering was awesome. I'm building a deck in my back yard and had done a ton of code research. I had the entire design planned out already and really just needed an engineer to tell me how deep I needed to make my footings. Through a simple phone call, RES consulted with me on how deep the footings should be as well as the live/snow load and soil assumptions that went into it. They didn't even charge me for their advice. I'd recommend them to anyone who needs some engineering support."

"Before getting any work done to your foundation: 1. Get a structural engineer to go out to look at your property. This is advice someone gave me. 2. Make sure that engineer is Jeremy. This is advice Iâ m passing on to you because he is amazing! Before I was told about getting a structural engineer, several people came out to look at the foundation, giving me an average quote of $20,000 though they never went under the house. Jeremy did go under the house and came out with dozens of photos. He showed, as well as told me, what was actually going on with the foundation. Later he emailed me a link to the photos and attached a summary of his observations. Heâ s polite, professional, meticulous, conscientious and knowledgeable. Heâ s very patient. Answered all of my questions. On top of that, heâ s really affordable. I donâ t often recommend people, but I highly recommend Jeremy."

"Chuck did a fantastic job, his plans were very detailed and exactly what we talked about. Through the whole process Chuck has only been a text or a call away and has come to the site through out all the construction to check on the progress. Chuck is very easy to work with and we would for sure recommend him."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

For a successful project in Lakewood, begin with a detailed soil analysis and secure all required permits. Coordinate with utility companies to prevent service disruptions. Review HOA guidelines if applicable. Design your plans to address local snow loads, wind exposure, and radon risks. Schedule inspections at key milestones, and plan construction timelines to avoid delays from Lakewood’s freeze-thaw cycles.

Helpful?

In Lakewood, watch for horizontal or stair-step cracks in foundation walls, uneven floors, and persistent moisture near the basement—these often signal shifting soils or inadequate drainage. Doors or windows that stick, visible sagging beams, or gaps around exterior walls can indicate outdated or insufficient structural work. If prior repairs predate current snow load or seismic standards, consider a professional structural inspection.

Helpful?

The durability of structural work in Lakewood depends on thorough soil testing, use of weather-resistant materials, and effective water management to handle snowmelt and runoff. Adhering to local building codes and scheduling regular structural inspections are crucial. Hiring experienced professionals familiar with Lakewood’s unique climate and soil conditions ensures repairs and upgrades remain effective for years to come.

Helpful?

In Lakewood, prioritize structural steel and engineered wood products for framing, as they handle elevation and temperature swings well. Use freeze-thaw resistant concrete for foundations and exterior work to combat local soil movement. Galvanized steel connectors help prevent corrosion from snowmelt. For seismic safety, select materials rated for earthquake resistance, and always ensure all supplies meet Lakewood’s specific building code requirements.

Helpful?

Structural engineering upgrades in Lakewood, such as foundation repair, seismic retrofits, and proper drainage solutions, can greatly enhance your home’s value and marketability. Buyers in Lakewood often seek homes with documented structural inspections and improvements that address local soil and weather challenges. Well-executed structural work reassures potential buyers about long-term stability and can make your property stand out in a competitive market.
