"Warren of Clark Hardwood Flooring and Refinishing was professional, courteous, on time and did a great job. I had an 1100 sq. ft. house with hardwoods in two bedrooms, living room and kitchen. "The owner, Todd, came to the house, measured, and gave me a quote via email. I was on a pretty tight timeframe, and he was able to work me in. One of his guys (Robert) did most of the work. The floor came out great. Better than I was expecting. He had to do some extra work around a toilet in the bathroom, but did not ask for extra money. They have an outstanding vacuum system that captures almost all of the dust. It is so effective, Robert doesn't even need to wear a dust mask. I will certainly call Todd again when I need hardwood floor work."

"I originally had him scheduled for Monday, 11/23. I called him to see if he could push it up to Sat., 11/21. He did so, and I had him stretch the carpet in my living room. He also cleaned up around where the carpet met my wood flooring, he did this on his own. He was on time & wore a mask, and his pricing was reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone. Thanks again Victor."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can technically make a crawl space liveable, but the only way to do so is by converting it into a basement. While some crawl spaces are big enough to walk through and store large items, they lack appropriate insulation and space to be liveable.

A stair runner is a length of carpet installed in the center of the staircase, either on top of or in between hard materials installed on the staircase. The carpet doesn’t cover the entire length of the steps, making stair runners an aesthetic choice. Thankfully, if you want hard materials on your stairs to show through, a stair runner will make it safer, as the primary area you walk on will be less slippery thanks to the carpet.

Contractors commonly install floors before cabinets during a kitchen remodel. It’s the standard option when installing hardwood, vinyl, and tile flooring. Installing flooring first helps prevent height misalignment, ensures a seamless appearance, and saves extra flooring work and costs if you plan to replace or remove any cabinets later.

On average, installing carpet costs between $3 and $11 per square foot, depending on factors like the carpet material, style, and labor rates in your area. Sometimes, installers will include carpet removal in these costs, so if you don’t have any carpet to remove, you can save time and spend less money on labor.

No subflooring is perfectly level, but you should never ignore any noticeable floor sagging. Most contractors deem a floor that slopes by a 1/2 inch to 1 inch per 20 feet of floor acceptable. Further investigation is required when the slope or sag is more than one and a half inches.
