"If anyone is looking to get their hardwood floors refinished...do yourself a favor and call Warren and Alec...the father, son team with Clark Hardwood Flooring. They were absolutely fantastic to work with! They refinished my whole downstairs and also my stairs, in a timely and professional manner! I've been walking around for 2 days just in awe of the new life my floors received. We got 2 puppies in 2021...they were not kind to my pine hardwoods...as you can see if you zoom into the picture with them in it. Now...back to perfection! Hit them up, you won't regret it!"

"I have had numerous hardwood flooring contractors work in my home over the last 26 years. David was by far the best! I canâ t say enough good things about the project, he was courteous, clean, on time, and the floors turned out amazing! I will have him back in the near future to refinish some of the previous hardwoods that were not done to my satisfaction. I wish I could leave some pics of his work. One section he laid against my tile floor is curved and he made it look seamless!"

"He made our floor beautiful! He made a bad situation go away. We had hired another contractor which did not finish the job. He came in and finished what the others started. We recommend him highly."

Customers say: True professional

"We hired them two times to finish a TV studio floor in a theater floor that had been in disrepair. Ashki successfully removed the prior finish and replaced it with a high gloss high quality finish that is far more durable. Our spaces are now much more slick looking and usable."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to reuse household materials to cover floors, but they won’t provide the same level of protection as dedicated materials. They’re also more difficult to tape down and more prone to slipping and bunching up—and any dirt or debris on them could scratch or stain your floors. That being said, extra materials like these can be useful for protecting the sides of furniture and placing in areas that could use added protection.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.

It’s better to lift and set down furniture; sliding it across the floor is more likely to cause damage to both the floor and the furniture itself. For very heavy items, consider using a dolly with rubber wheels. It is possible to purchase sliders designed specifically for gliding furniture across floors, but you still risk causing permanent damage to flooring if you use them.

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.

While it's possible to cover asbestos tile with carpet, it's not recommended. Encapsulating tile beneath carpet doesn't eliminate the health risks. Over time, the asbestos tiles could degrade, releasing fibers into the air and potentially contaminating the carpet. Disturbance during carpet installation or removal might also release fibers.
