"Downright Flooring did a great job for us. We have been remodeling a section of our house that includes the family room and a guest room, doing some of the work ourselves but hiring pros for the new fireplace, special tiling, custom iron work, and so forth. We initially looked for a carpet installer only, but Lenny also can order directly from all the major manufacturers and was able to offer us high quality carpeting at a great price. His installation team has a tremendous work ethic!---due to a heavy schedule, they did a terrific installation of our carpeting in the EVENING in order to meet our tight schedule of contractors. His company is small, and that affected communications a bit, but overall we enjoyed working with Lenny and his team, and are highly satisfied with the outcome."

Customers say: Quick response

"Martinez Flooring did a superb job in installing hardwood floors in our home. The job required marrying old hardwood with new, and you couldn't find the difference between old and new floors upon completion. The owner, Aaron, was so nice to work with, and the pricing was more than fair."

"There was a small mix up and I didn't get a call back like I was told that I would, but once I called back, they were responsive and scheduled right away. Discussion about oil vs water based polyurethane did not happen initially so I ended up paying more than was quoted for water based finish. Overall, they guys were great, and they did a great job. Floors look awesome."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, your kitchen flooring should extend under your dishwasher. It is essential for creating a level and stable surface for the appliance and preventing moisture from seeping into the subflooring, which is costly to repair. Working with a kitchen contractor will ensure the new flooring accounts for the height of the dishwasher so it sits under the countertop properly without any glaring gaps.

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet

No, it isn’t less expensive to install carpet compared to vinyl floors. The cost of installing carpet can range between $3 and $11 per square foot, so it falls just over the cost of installing vinyl flooring, at an average of $3 to $7 per square foot. High-quality carpeting can also range much higher, even up to $20 per square foot.

Contractors commonly install floors before cabinets during a kitchen remodel. It’s the standard option when installing hardwood, vinyl, and tile flooring. Installing flooring first helps prevent height misalignment, ensures a seamless appearance, and saves extra flooring work and costs if you plan to replace or remove any cabinets later.

Carpet is an effective natural insulator, so it will make a room slightly warmer than laminate. The material’s insulating properties also make carpeted rooms more efficient for temperature regulation.
