The decision to repair or replace your driveway depends on the extent of the damage. If your driveway has a few small cracks, a simple repair will do the trick. Gravel driveways are the most economical driveway material, followed pretty closely by asphalt and concrete. At about $1 to $3 per square foot, gravel is about a third of the cost of either of the more common alternatives. But, not everyone likes the look and feel of the material and may opt to pay more for something that looks better.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet. 

The average lifespan of an asphalt driveway ranges from 15 to 30 years, while concrete driveways last between 20 and 30 years, depending on several factors. Extreme temperature changes, cold weather, poor maintenance, and heavy traffic can all shorten the lifespan of your driveway. Be sure to reseal your driveway regularly to protect it from the elements and give it the best chance at a long lifespan.
