"I called the company just the day before I was moving and they were able to accommodate me! The movers are incredibly friendly and professional. Moving is always so stressful and their demeanor put me at ease immediately. It was clear from the first minutes that my belongings were in good hands. Thank you, Royal Moving!"

"I have used CalState moving two times and members of my family have also used them based on my recommendation. They are incredibly professional and efficient. Every time that I have used them, the move has gone quicker than expected and the crew is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. The whole process is so smooth and they always call ahead of time to answer any questions and to confirm. Once again, so happy with their service.!"

"Great experience from the beginning. Mike fielded the phone call for a 2br to a 1br to a storage multi-destination move. He was courteous and answered all suggestions. His quote was more on the high end based on hourly and number of people to show up for the move, but it tends to be better to quote higher than to low-ball and have hidden fees. On moving day Rob and his colleague showed up fifteen minutes early in the morning, which is almost unheard of in this business. Though on the quiet side, they moved very carefully but purposefully with move, and came up with great solutions with moving large furniture's around the doors without damaging them. Final amount came out about 20% estimated, but then again it is because we didn't need for everything to be moved as we were only doing a local move in the same same apartment complex, and the storage was just down the street from us. Results may be different otherwise. In any case, amongst the easiest move I've experienced."

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

The cost to ship furniture can range from $300 to $4,500 per piece, depending on the size and weight of the item and where it’s being shipped to. For a cross-country move, which companies consider any distance over 400 miles, it will cost $300 to $800 per piece to ship furniture. For an international move, shipping will cost around $1,000 to $4,500 per piece.

To prepare for moving a piano, start by documenting its current condition with photos in case of any damage during the move. Secure the piano's lid and wrap the instrument, including its keys and pedals, with bubble wrap and moving blankets for protection. Note that if you have hired professional piano movers, they may handle this step for you.

Next, prepare the space. Measure any tight spaces or doorways to ensure the piano will fit through. Clear a wide path from the piano's location to the exterior door, removing any furniture or obstacles. It is also helpful to prop open doors to make the exit easier.

On moving day, ensure the moving truck can park as close to the exit as possible. For safety, keep children and pets away from the moving area to prevent accidents or distractions.

Around half of Americans hire professional movers, while the other half DIY their moves.

Hiring professional movers is usually worth the investment. These moving pros have the expertise and experience to get the job done quickly and safely, saving you time and potentially avoiding damage to your belongings. Professionals are especially a good idea if you’re moving long distances or large, bulky items, like furniture, pianos, or vehicles. Pros will also know when you need moving permits based on where you live and whether or not the moving truck will block traffic.

Tipping movers is not mandatory, and most professional companies do not expect it. However, it is a common way to show appreciation for their hard work and the care they take with your belongings and home. A standard tip is between 10% and 20% of your total bill, split among the crew, or about $10 per mover per hour, tipped individually. It's an especially good idea to tip if the movers work in difficult weather, handle specialty items like pianos or pool tables, provide extra packing services, or go above and beyond your expectations.
