"Brothers replaced every window in entire house around 6 years ago,. Excellent work! Recent (unusual) torrental rains resulted in leak in large picture window…they immediately inspected and sent a team to repair and also checked every window in the house to ensure they were okay. "I cannot recommend Tony and his team highly enough. My windows leaked and I had tried several other contractors and handymen before calling Tony but they just couldn't stop the leak! TME arrived on time, were friendly, clean, and professional. Most importantly they stopped the leak! TME was so great that I have already used them on other jobs. I will use them again and recommend them to all of my friends!"

"Tim Marais came to my home and inspected my sliding door and windows, which had leaked in the recent major rains. He was extremely professional and honest. He explained to me that my problem was much less serious than I feared and that major work could easily be postponed. A number of other contractors that I had talked to had tried to sell me very expensive fixes. I will definitely call him again for future work."

"David, at CA Cabinets was great, he and his installers showed on time, they were carful to be neat and clean up after the job was done. We had 5 custom windows and a patio sliding door with a doggie door built in, very cool for my dog Max! They addressed any question that my wife or I had on the spot, great Quality & Service!!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.

Look for stickers at the top or inside of the frame, like in the tracks when the window is open. Some brands also stamp their name onto the frame itself or place it between the panes of glass, although this is less common. If you can’t find the info on the window itself, consider asking your neighbors or HOA.

Yes, including the frame instead of just referring to the glass opening for window dimensions is the standard. However, some manufacturers may refer to the rough opening instead of the framed opening when listing sizes. Always confirm which measurement a manufacturer is using before ordering windows.

When you need new windows depends on a variety of factors, including the age of your windows, the age of your home, and the climate you live in. If you’re dealing with budget constraints, you don’t need to replace all your windows simultaneously.

When buying new windows, you should consider energy efficiency, safety, and aesthetics to choose the right window for you.

Finding a reputable contractor for an egress window installation involves researching and vetting potential candidates. Start by searching for local professionals, reading customer reviews, and checking their websites for a portfolio of their work.

Once you have a shortlist, ask the following questions to ensure they are qualified:

• Are you licensed and insured?

• What experience do you have installing egress windows?

• Can you provide references from previous customers?

• Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors?

• What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule?

• How do you handle payment?
