"We recently hired Bay Breeze Landscaping to build a new retaining wall and fence, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Eduardo was professional, friendly, and trustworthy from start to finish. He communicated clearly throughout the entire project, explaining the contract, the process, and keeping us updated on the progress every step of the way. Any adjustments that came up were handled quickly and without any issues. The project stayed on schedule, and Eduardo always followed through on what he said would be done. Their pricing was fair, there were no surprises, and the job site was kept clean throughout the project. The quality of the workmanship exceeded our expectations. The retaining wall and fence both turned out beautifully, and it’s clear that Bay Breeze takes pride in their work. If you’re looking for a contractor who is reliable, communicative, and delivers excellent results, I highly recommend Bay Breeze Landscaping. We would absolutely hire them again!"

"Here’s a company that restored my faith in not only ethical business practice but also reflected my own practice of individualized service. Juan and his crew we’re a pleasure to work with. On each of three projects they went the extra mile to see through to the details of beautifully finished pieces of work! In addition to the (1) the retaining wall, they (2) installed a packed gravel base for an 8x8' storage shed that they assembled and installed and (3) constructed a quallity french drain on two sides of my mobile home. I already have made one referral to my friends and will continue with friends looking for a personable, professional landscaping company."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In San Francisco, fencing endures frequent fog, salt air, and shifting microclimates, which can accelerate wear. Wood fences should be sealed or stained annually to prevent moisture damage, while metal fencing needs regular rust inspections and touch-up paint, especially near the coast. Vinyl and composite fences benefit from quarterly cleaning to remove salt deposits. Always check for wind or earthquake-related shifts, particularly in hilly or exposed neighborhoods.

Helpful?

Quality fencing in San Francisco can significantly enhance your home’s curb appeal and resale value, particularly in neighborhoods where privacy and outdoor living are highly valued. Buyers appreciate secure, attractive fencing for children, pets, and defining property lines. In family-friendly or upscale areas, custom fencing that complements local architecture can make your property more desirable in a competitive real estate market.

Helpful?

Your San Francisco home is well-suited for fencing if you seek added security, privacy, or want to clearly define property boundaries—especially on sloped or irregular lots. Homes near parks or open spaces may also benefit from fencing to deter local wildlife. Consider your neighborhood’s architectural style and any HOA or historic district restrictions that could influence fence design, height, or placement.

Helpful?

When hiring a fencing pro in San Francisco, look for experience with the city’s steep hills, sandy soils, and tight urban spaces. Ensure your contractor understands local property boundaries and neighborhood-specific design rules, especially in historic or coastal districts. Verify they carry proper insurance, have recent San Francisco references, and are familiar with the city’s permit process. Ask about their approach to managing limited street access and noise regulations.

Helpful?

In San Francisco, plan for permit approval timelines, required neighbor notifications, and underground utility checks before starting your fencing project. Seismic safety is crucial, especially on steep or shifting lots, so choose designs that accommodate movement. Consider drainage needs, drought-tolerant landscaping, and the impact of microclimates. Urban challenges like parking restrictions and noise ordinances may affect scheduling, so coordinate with your contractor to minimize disruptions.
