"Jared showed up and wasted no time in doing two things at once (draining the hot water heater and repairing a small fireplace gas leak). He educated me a little on what he was doing which is always helpful. He was also careful to keep his booties on, so as not to ruin the shiny wood floors. Highly recommend based on this experience."

"From the time I called, to when the technician came and work done, was only few hours. I am impressed. I called Sunday morning, Victoria answered my phone promptly. I told her I had similar work done in 2015, she was able to find the record for reference (wow). She called soon after to let me know she scheduled Adrian to come out. No extra charge for Sunday. Adrian impressed me with his professionalism - hand shake on first introduction, cordial demeanor, put on bootie when coming inside the house without asking, and explained what he was doing. He trouble shoot, examined different areas and then used the snake through a pipe opening that was on the outside of the house to clear the clog. After the blockages were cleared, he checked the kitchen sink, laundry sink and overflow vent to make sure water is flowing through. I saw how he trouble shoot, doesn't quickly gloss over as job done when the blockage was cleared. He made sure everything was in proper working order. I would re-hire him. All work is guaranteed for 30 days."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

It depends on the type of surface. For instance, if you’re trying to get rid of hard water deposits on glass, you can spray vinegar onto the surface and wipe it off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. However, if the deposits are on granite or natural stone, it’s better to use baking soda and water rather than vinegar or other acidic cleaners.

Yes. To get soft water, you can install a water softening system, which will replace the calcium and magnesium ions in the water with sodium or potassium ions. Water softeners cost anywhere from $200 to $6,000, depending on the size and complexity of the system. You can either install a water softener for the whole house or just at your shower heads. If you’re sensitive to sodium or potassium, you can install a salt-free water conditioner.

The primary difference between a water softener and a water filter lies in what they remove from the water. A water softener is designed to remove hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. In contrast, a water filter has a broader effect, removing various contaminants above a certain size, which can include bacteria and other impurities.

To decide which you need, consider your goal. If you want to eliminate hard minerals, choose a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, a filter is the better option. Filters are also generally less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply, you may need to install both for comprehensive treatment.

Drinking hard water is not known to have any negative health impacts. Using hard water can lead to dry skin and hair, and the minerals in hard water can build up in pipes, faucets, and appliances. Hard water is more of a threat to your plumbing than it is to your health.

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.
