"Use these folks if you can. I set a meet with Ramiro. He was on time, masked and using good Covid protocol. He checked out an existing well for a pump installation. He did a trial run & was excellent explaining the factors he was considering before recommending I NOT go ahead with the project. Honest enough not to sell you something you won't be happy with & you don't need. That's real service. Thanks Ramiro. Bennett K"

"Gustavo definitely knows his trade. He not only made the installation functional, but it really looks great. Gustavo handled the electrical portion, as well as installing the water heater and recirculating pump. The price was definitely competitive and I would certainly use him again. Nice job!"

"My wife and I bought a house a couple years ago, and became owners of a radiant heating systems installed more than 20 years ago. Tony and Damian did a great job of understanding how my radiant heating system works, what repairs were needed/what was failing, and where upgrades were needed. They replaced the pump, both expansion tanks, and the neutralizer. Additionally, they noticed the hot water tank was installed incorrectly, and the hot and cold water connections were flipped. It's amazing the system worked, and it's nice to have a system that's correctly installed (even if it's 20 years later!). Additionally, they secured the expansion tanks to the wall (now required by code), replaced the deteriorating copper pipes connected to the neutralizer with plastic (I'm sure this is code now as well), and re-routed the overflow pipes to the outside (rather than the floor!). You can't go wrong with these guys, well done, they're true craftsmen to the trade."

"JPC came in and took their time to thoroughly inspect our kitchen so that they can give us options on how we can install a new gas line as we were switching from an electric to a gas range. Their pricing is very fair, they are friendly and courteous. When they found out that we forgot to purchase a flexible gas hose, they went above and beyond and went out to buy one. I will definitely use them again for any future plumbing jobs."

"Juan was on schedule and did a very good job. I had an outdoor spigot that needed to be replaced, and since it required soldering I turned to a pro. Juans workmanship was excellent (neat, fast and no leaks). He recommended and installed a much better shutoff valve than I was planning on using. I would request him again. The cost was on the high side. They justify it by including an exam of your water heater (ours was fine) and answering questions on other possible plumbing issues. I could 've done without this."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Sump pumps remove excess water from the lowest point of your home, which prevents flooding. When a sump pit fills with water, a sump pump pushes that water outside of the basin and into an exterior discharge pipe. From there, the water flows away from your home, so it doesn’t damage your foundation.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

You should be fine. Most high-grade grinder pumps have a 24-hour holding capacity within the tank. You can continue to use the facilities so long as the power outage does not stretch into days. In a worst-case scenario, attach a generator to the grinder pump, providing it has sufficient electric capacity.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.
