"During the summer, we started a sump pump project but didnâ t complete it as we werenâ t satisfied with the quotes we got. Unfortunately â like many recently in the Bay Areaâ our basement flooded this week due to all the intense rainfall and the sump pump installation became a project to urgently complete. We reached out to a few businesses and Robert was the fastest to get back to us. He arrived the next day, devised a solution no previous contractor had suggested, thoroughly explained the process, and had the installation completed with a team of two that day. Robert even modified his initial plan upon our request to because he â wants to make sure weâ re happy with it in the endâ . Robert very much met that goal. Installing a sump pump might not be a project you expect great customer service with but it is what made Facilities Plumbing & Drain business stand out to us. Everyone involved with the installation was nice, professional, and even enthusiastic. We would hire Robert again given the opportunity and highly recommend anyone looking for excellent service to do the same."

"My wife and I bought a house a couple years ago, and became owners of a radiant heating systems installed more than 20 years ago. Tony and Damian did a great job of understanding how my radiant heating system works, what repairs were needed/what was failing, and where upgrades were needed. They replaced the pump, both expansion tanks, and the neutralizer. Additionally, they noticed the hot water tank was installed incorrectly, and the hot and cold water connections were flipped. It's amazing the system worked, and it's nice to have a system that's correctly installed (even if it's 20 years later!). Additionally, they secured the expansion tanks to the wall (now required by code), replaced the deteriorating copper pipes connected to the neutralizer with plastic (I'm sure this is code now as well), and re-routed the overflow pipes to the outside (rather than the floor!). You can't go wrong with these guys, well done, they're true craftsmen to the trade."

Customers say: True professional

"Went above and beyond with my new kitchen sink installation. Francisco found some issues with the previous installation (done by a family friend, not a pro) and was very honest with his recommendations/prices and fixed the issues properly. The new sink looks great, lingering issues are finally fixed and best of all, the wife is very happy."

"JPC team did an excellent, professional job on our storm water sump pumps related project. (Two sump pumps were working; they did not need repairs.) 1) Cut and replaced two broken pipes; installed new valves 2) New float sensors installed and set to auto-start the sump pumps 3) long outflow pine, connecting to city's water drainage system, was cleaned using long snake and high pressure water pump combination. 4) successful final test with water filled in water chamber and sump pumps working 5) JPC gave warranty for work done and signed up for once-a-year annual maintenance visit in October."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

If your sump pump isn’t engaging, it might be clogged with dirt and debris. Check to see if the fitting lid is loose and has been letting debris in. Next, check the float and make sure it’s not obstructed by rust or gunk, which results from insufficient maintenance. Tangled wires or damaged switching systems can also stop your sump pump from engaging.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

A sump pump battery backup can typically run for 6 to 24 hours. The factors that affect its runtime include the battery capacity and pump usage.

When purchasing your backup system, take these factors into consideration to determine which system is best for your home. If you live in an area with frequent and long-lasting power outages, consider a longer-lasting backup battery.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

Yes, it’s possible to install a sewage ejector pump outside rather than in a basement. However, there may be some extra steps involved, including running pipes from the inside to the outside of your home and digging (and re-filling) a hole for the basin. If you aren’t comfortable with this type of work, contact a plumbing pro to handle it for you.
