"I contact AMG Doors through a recommendation from a friend. I contacted Michael and he was very knowledgeable about the different types of door materials and what material would work best for my area ( I get a lot of sun at my front door). Michael talked me into getting a thermatru front door and I obsoletely love it! AMG Doors already has a patio door on order for my home!"

"I highly recommend Bella's Glass because of the professional communication via text messages from start to finish. Ramon arrived on time and fixed the shower door. The shower doors are better than they were when I rented this place. Thank you"

Small jobs welcome

"They arrived on time to remove my old broken hot tub from inside the house. The hot tub had to be cut into pieces to take out through doorways to go to the dump. They put up plastic to keep the dust out of the rest up the house. They left the room spotless. No mess. Done a short time. Great job!"

"Roberto was very knowledgeable, detail-oriented and gave me a good quote, so I decided immediately to hire him to replace my two-car garage door . After knowing what were needed to replace the door, he went back to his shop to get the material and assembled his team. He notified me his return time and texted me when he found out he'd be late for 30 minutes. I watched his entire door replacing work, and found he was precise, knew his procedures thoroughly. He also tested closing and opening the door to ensure it ran smoothly. He hauled away old door and parts and cleaned up the leftovers. He finished his work on the same day he showed up the first time. In my opinion, He deserved an A+."

Doors questions, answered by experts

You don’t need to have a door at the top of basement stairs, but having one is usually a good idea. Not only will the door block the view of the basement, which might serve as a play area or less appealing workout space, but it can also prevent children or pets from going downstairs, as well as accidental falls.

Using force to open a door is not recommended, as this could cause serious injury or permanent damage to your door and surrounding door frame. If it’s a front door that you’ve lost the keys for, it’s better to call a locksmith. If it’s an interior door without any lock that you plan on keeping, a handyman can help. Finally, if it’s an old door that you plan to replace anyway, a professional door installer can remove the stuck door and source a replacement.

You might be able to turn a normal door into a fire-rated door, but you’re better off purchasing one that meets all NFPA 80 standards. If you want to DIY a normal door into a fire door, you’ll need a self-adhesive intumescent seal, metal hinges, fire-resistant glazing, and a self-closing device, but you’re always better off buying a certified fire door.

You have several options when choosing the best lumber for your door jamb. Pine is the most common material due to its resistance to swelling. Fir is strong and durable. You could also go with birch or alder. Any wood with a tight grain will work for this project.

The most common size for an interior door is 80 inches tall and 28 to 32 inches wide. However, a standard interior door can measure anywhere from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on its intended use and the available space. According to most building codes in the U.S., a door must be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide.
