"Very satisfied with quality and efficiency. Besides cleaning the chimney they repaired the damaged inside hearth wall and outside deck at the top of the chimney. I gave them a 4.0 rating for value because this is the first time I have to make such repairs, but it seemed reasonable. They clearly explained what needs to be done and why."

Just great!  Can't recommend these guys highly enough.  Professional, polite, efficient from start to finish -- always cleaning up after each visit.   Started the process by visiting their showroom and being shown the various models/brands available by Gladys.  Saw most of them in operation -- and went home with a host of brochures to mull over and choose my insert. (Gladys was always super helpful and responsive online after my initial visit.)   Efraim, the owner, then came to the house to measure, discuss options.  Very knowledgeable and helpful and we cinched the deal.  Work started soon after.  Installation of the insert was just a few hours (tilework took a little longer), along with running a gas line into the fireplace from the garage behind -- Charlie was in charge, and did a terrific job.  I hope to have him back to do the annual servicing!  The tile and floor guys, Enrique and Maurice were awesome -- the new tile looks fabulous -- and the repair job on the floor is perfectly adequate, given the existing hardwood floor is probably well over 60 years old.  Took 3 follow up visits after the initial install and demo to complete the job.  They took great care to cover all the furniture and carpet with plastic and paper during the whole job, and before the sanding commenced, added additional floor to ceiling plastic for extra protection.  I was given detailed instructions on using the remote controller, and all in all, am VERY happy with the fireplace.  Bring on winter!

Inserts are not cheap to install.  But I was so impressed with all the other reviews on Angie's List for these guys, and also with Efraim at our initial meeting, I did not get any competing bids for this job.  I may have been able to save a few hundred dollars by going elsewhere, but decided to go with Penguin's professionalism and good reviews, paying the higher price.  ($500 of the total price quoted above was for refinishing the hardwood floor.)

If you want a terrific looking gas fireplace with none of the soot and cleaning of a wood-burning one, then hire this company!

"It was okay, it just took a lot of effort for them to come because they are very resistant. The job was done under warranty. Last year they come to fix the leak and it was good but recently there are leaks again but they keep on telling me they will come but they did not show up."

"Excellent. We replaced a wood burning fireplace with a gas fireplace. We asked the company to see if they could remove the old tile without damaging it, a tricky task requiring some finesse. They managed to do that very well, and we were able to clean the old tile and have them place the tiles around the new fireplace which required a lot of precise cuts to fit the new fireplace size. They did a great job, and replaced/repaired and textured the sheetrock surrounding the fireplace. The workers were very neat and cleaned up everything when they finished. Highly recommended"

"Manuel did a good job overall. The project took almost twice as long as he estimated. This was due to a variety of factors - difficult soil to dig in, Manuel having some other commitments for certain days and partial days, as well as I believe a general under-estimation of the work on his behalf. Through all these delays he was very patient, flexible, and continued to focus on quality. I also had Manuel do several small things related to the fence that were not originally included such as helping me move the lumber, disposing of some other debris, etc. He was very flexible and willing to do this (at additional cost). In the end, although the project had been fixed-cost, he expected additional payment due to it taking twice as long. On the one hand I understood he had not made the profit he expected and truly deserved from this project. On the other hand, it was a fixed-price job and I did not change the scope so it really wasn't my problem to compensate him for mis-estimating the time required. We ended up agreeing on some additional payment and probably we both had mixed feelings about how fair it was. I understood in detail how to build this slightly unusual (though not that bizarre) fence design and I provided Manuel detailed instructions and feedback throughout. Overall he did a good job and was patient and flexible. I would hire him again for future work but would be sure to clarify the nature of the price and work very very clearly."

"The project turned out beautifully. As it was a big project there were a couple of bumps along the way but the owner was incredibly responsive and treated us very fairly and professionally and anything about which we had a question or concern was promptly fixed to our satisfaction. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend Mr Pavers for any paver project.

"The company called to let me know the person they were sending was a little delayed.  That was thoughtful and appreciated.  He arrived just a little bit later than scheduled.  The worker was good, polite and professional.
It would have helped to been given a list of materials needed prior, as the worker and I had to go to the lumber yard together.  Someone else mentioned that, but I had no idea what to buy.  And probably the person doing the repairs needed to eyeball it as well.  But that time was included in the time allocated for repairs.  We went to the closest place not the least expensive place.
The worker was quiet, thorough, and replaced the rotted wood with new.  That was during the summer, and I have not had any problems (although it has been a rather dry winter.)

Chimney Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, most couches can be disassembled, especially those that were delivered flat-packed for assembly. To take a couch apart, you can typically detach components like the legs, arms, and backrest. The process often involves removing the cushions, unscrewing the legs, and separating sectional pieces or the seat frame. If you have the manufacturer's instructions, they will provide the clearest guide on which parts are designed to be removed.

There are many tips and tricks you can try to make your dresser drawers stop sticking and slide easier. You can rub a small amount of beeswax on the drawer slides or apply paraffin wax in the same manner. If you need to unstick wooden dresser drawers, consider using silicone, graphite, or Teflon-based lubricants for best results.

Most bed assemblies take 1-3 hours, depending on design and complexity.

If your drawer slides are made of metal or plastic, it’s best to use white lithium grease to lubricate them. The dense formula of that compound creates long-lasting results and should prevent you from having to re-grease the drawer slides frequently. Test the white lithium grease on a small, less-visible area of the slides first to ensure it doesn’t damage the finish before applying to the entire fixture.

Leather patches can last anywhere from two to 20 years, depending on use, maintenance, and the environment the leather is in. The longevity of the leather repair also depends on the nature of the original damage and the repairs required. Consult a leather repair specialist about how to make your leather fix last as long as possible.
