"We evaluated 3 bids for our backyard concrete, drainage pipe replacement, and front driveway. Ergeon's bid was very competitive and the most professional...detailing each portion of the job. Their estimator showed up when promised to walk down the job, and we got the bid within a couple days. Our questions were answered promptly. They assigned a professional, Magdalena in our case, to be our point of contact for any questions regarding scheduling, sequencing...anything. And she checked in with us regularly to ensure our satisfaction with the project. Their onsite guys were courteous, worked diligently, and left things in order at the end of each day. Their foreman, Omar, checked progress regularly and did the final inspection with us at the end. We are pleased with the final work product. And the cost came in less than they estimated because some drain pipe was not needed. Great job!"

"It went well. Crew was on time and very clean. I am used to having to pick up after crews but not these guys. Fair price and attention to detail. We then had him do a second project of installing flag stone. Owner is the site guy too and detail oriented. They will be back for some concrete work next month. Only issue I had was communication language barrier. Luckily my wife speaks Spanish so it worked out well."

"Skippy is very easy to work with. He offers meaningful suggestions on the project and is also very open to input from the customer. It is obvious that he wants the customer to be happy. We were very pleased with the overall result (demolish existing deck, replace with approx 900 sq ft of stamped concrete patio with lots of drainage, and build brick retaining wall with stucco finish and bullnose brick top) We did have some minor concerns about the work flow (it seemed to us to be a bit disjointed), but the finished product does speak for itself, and we would recommend this group - we anticipate them doing other things in the near future."

"We hired Norcal Builders based off of thier excellent reputation, and I would happily recommend Stephen Paea and his team to anyone looking to enhance thier property. Stephen was with us every step of the way and and communicated his teams progress throughout the process. He gave insightful suggestions and helped us achieve more than what we hoped for on our property. Thier team was punctual and completed the job in a timely manner. During the project, Norcal Builders were skillfully able too remove a large tree that stood fairly close to our home, without damaging the surrounding area and especially our home. Thank you so much Stephen Paea and to the Norcal Builders for going above and beyond."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

You can use a pressure washer to clean a whole host of surfaces. The exterior siding of your house is one of the most popular spots, as well as your driveway, garage floor, patio or deck, and even your outdoor furniture. Just be mindful about the amount of pressure you apply to different materials—concrete can handle a lot more than wood, for example.

Regular maintenance will help you avoid costly repairs and early replacement. Clean the driveway surface with a stiff brush and water at least twice yearly, and remove any weeds that try to take root. Additionally, every two to five years, apply a sealcoat—this protects the driveway against damaging UV rays and keeps it looking like new.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

Jet washing can wash away weeds without bending or kneeling to pull them. However, the results will likely be fleeting because the weeds will return unless you use a stronger method that takes them out at the root. Use a jet washer for short-term weed removal, but use a stronger method if you want to get rid of weeds for good.

You can clean light stains off of concrete using a pressure washer with 2,000 psi, or you can clean tougher stains if you use a smaller nozzle and point the wand closer to the stain. You may also need to go over the surface more than once for a deeper clean. If you want to clean concrete faster, consider using a pressure washer with a psi of 3,000 or higher.
