A larger disposal may be too big to fit in a compact space, for example. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field.
