"I had Oscar (owner) in the past but had never met him. My renters said he didn't respond to their calls when I need the original Septic repaired. First time I had him repair (rework) the newer septic. Then I found him again on Home Advisor - great!! He never received the tenant's call. He has 20 years experience. On time. Cleans up. Fast and efficient. Plus, he is a really a nice guy. He has an assistant Josh, also very nice guy. You won't be disappointed."

"Exceptional Service from Ryan, Hayley, and Julio! I recently contacted Hammer Plumbing for a 2nd opinion after S&G Pumping told me that my septic tank needed to be replaced for $8000 to $9000. I opted to get a 2nd opinion from Hammer Plumbing. The gentleman who answer the office line, quickly set up an inspection at NO CHARGE to verify the other companies findings and provide me an estimate. Ryan contacted me about my upcoming appointment and went over what he was going to do for the inspection. He went out to my home and verified that the septic system in fact DID NOT need to be replaced. It is an unusual style tank but only a minor repair and re-certification, was all that was needed. I was sent a clear estimate of costs and scheduling was easy. Hayley got me in right away to get the work completed. Julio came out and performed the repair and recertification of the septic system. I greatly appreciate the honesty and integrity of Hammer Plumbing and would recommend them to anyone."

"It went great. Jose is knowledgeable about all things dealing with plumbing and he also has expertise in septic tanks. I just discovered my garage has one. My house is connected to the city sewer line and I had no idea how septic tanks function. He knew just what do and performed the inspection free. He explained how septic tanks work and what I might need in the future. He will be my go to guy from now on."

"We have dealt with Best Service on 3 occasions.  Once to check for a leak in the water main to the house (no leak, no charge) and twice to have new toilets installed.  Luis came out to install the toilets and is very professional and informative.  He is fast and strong enough to lift our one piece toilets by himself. He also took our old toilet and packaging to be recycled.  We highly recommend Best Service."

"I'll never going to get them again. I saw the picture of the outside faucet to turn on the faucet. It was not like that. He got a little cheap and he said that this is the one that basically goes with my house. That was fine. I spent the money to get one put in. He tried to tell me that, even though I have soft water, I had a water deposit built up in my pipe and that he could do a flush. Being a new homeowner, I'm naive. I'm thinking that he is going to flush all of my pipes. He told me that if they were to do it, the cheapest that they could do is $225. He hooked up something to my water tank. He was going through my house just unscrewing the little faucet where the washers are and cleaned the hard deposits which there were hardly in there. I could have done that. As he explained it to me, he said that doing the whole thing would be $225 and the water tank would be $85. I told them that if that's what they were going to do, then I need to speak with your boss. He had to call up his boss. I told his boss that there's no way I'm giving him $225 for this procedure. I felt like he was taking advantage of a new homeowner because the impression I got was a little different. I told them that the work that he had already done, I'll give him $85. It was over and above the big deal price. The bad part about that is I'm paying upfront. I didn't get what I paid for."

"I called and setup an appointment for the afternoon.  The dispatcher called back in an hour saying the plumber was free earlier and came immediately.  He was there within an hour and gave me an estimate for the replacement and upgrade that I wanted.  I agreed to the price and within 3 hours I had a new water heater.  I can?t imagine where they could have done any better.

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Conventional anaerobic septic systems are the most cost-effective and least expensive type, with installation costs typically ranging from $3,000 to $8,000. For comparison, sand filter systems cost between $7,000 and $18,000, while mound systems are the most expensive at $10,000 to $20,000. Several factors influence the final price. The tank material is a key consideration; plastic tanks are the most budget-friendly option, starting around $2,900, but concrete and fiberglass tanks offer greater durability and longer life spans at a higher cost. The size of the tank also affects the price. For example, a 1,000-gallon tank costs between $900 and $1,500, whereas a larger 1,500-gallon tank costs $1,500 to $2,500.

You can put yogurt in your septic tank, but it will not increase the bacteria in your septic tank. In other words, it won't harm your tank, but it won't get rid of a septic smell or boost the performance of your septic system. While yogurt contains helpful bacteria, you would need to buy an extraordinary amount of yogurt to make any difference. Adding yogurt is not a helpful or cost-effective strategy.

Yes. A metal detector is one of the quickest and easiest ways to find your septic tank. However, metal detectors can be too expensive (costing upward of $300 in some cases), and not everyone has a metal detector just lying around. If that’s the case for you, you can also take a long metal rod and poke it into the ground at regular intervals until you hit something—likely your septic tank lid.

To keep your septic tank healthy, be careful of what you flush and be conservative with water usage, as even flushing too much water down the drain can throw off the septic system’s delicate balance. Never flush anything but human waste and toilet paper down your toilet, and be sure to have the tank inspected and pumped every two to five years, depending on the size of your household and your water usage.

The main difference between a mound septic system and a conventional one is that the drain field in a mound system is built up into a mound composed of sand and gravel to increase the filtration time the wastewater sees before it is returned to the aquifer. There’s also a significant cost difference, with mound systems typically costing far more than standard septic systems.
